What is music therapy in psychological counseling?

Text | Hanyu

I experienced a different kind of psychological therapy at a music therapy salon sharing session. I am a musical idiot and am tone-deaf, so my friends dragged me to this event. As a result, I am very grateful to my friend for bringing me along, because I enjoyed the whole activity very much.

Theoretically speaking, music therapy is a type of psychotherapy. It combines music with psychological counseling techniques, and uses the influence of music on emotions to change people's mental state and thus their thinking.

In this psychological consultation process, the counselor will first guide the visitor to enter a very relaxed state under the influence of specific music, and then use free association, imagery dialogue and other techniques in psychological consultation to allow the visitor to The person enters his or her subconscious world to deal with unprocessed events or emotions, thereby getting out of the predicament.

The above is the principle and process of one-to-one music therapy.

Although it didn’t go that deep for our music therapy-themed salon experience, it was still magical. During the whole process, we followed different music and the consultant's instructions, and we showed a state that was beyond our imagination.

What kind of people are we in the group? Are we cheerful, introverted, active or passive? Are we self-centered or other-centered? In the interaction of music, we all have different ideas. Each has its own manifestation. Then you can try and experience things you have never tried during the music process. Make yourself quieter, livelier, slower, more proactive, think more about others, and love yourself more.

It all happened so naturally, and I even found out after it was over that I was so brave today, so open-minded, and my heart was open and bright, as if a hole had been opened in my heart that had been closed, and there was light. Come in.

Music therapy does not require you to have good musical literacy, nor does it require you to have good musical talent. In music therapy, what you hear and what is displayed with the music is all you dance music.

Everyone is different. You don’t need to think about right or wrong, and you don’t need to follow the rules. You are you, no matter what you are.
