On December 10, 2004, the fourth album "Every Moment is Brand New" was released
Album introduction:
Xu Wei, the new spiritual leader in the Chinese music scene, finally releases the most anticipated new album of 2004
It has been 10 years since his debut, 3 years of brewing, and 11 years of careful tempering. A good song dedicated with all my heart
Xu Wei, the most extraordinary voice in the Chinese music scene
For those who care about original Chinese music, the two words "Xu Wei" are a "special brand" ": He used melody to pay homage to the past, and used calmness to express the future. The singing voice wandered in his heart, lips and teeth, and it condensed into awe of life and gratitude to music. Many people say this: We are looking forward to his works, or rather, we are waiting for Xu Wei to give us an insight into life.
It has been ten years since Xu Wei brought his music dream from Xi'an to Beijing. Over the past ten years, despite the ups and downs of the music scene, Xu Wei's music has always been leaping forward in his own way. Nearly three years have passed since his last album "Time Walking". Xu Wei finally released his fourth original album "Every Moment is Brand New" on December 9 in response to everyone's expectations. Xu Wei himself said frankly that this completely composed album was his experience after practicing hard, and it contains his joys and sorrows, as well as his undeniable self-change. Therefore, Xu Wei admits that whether it is music or life, this is an album that connects the past and the future, connecting him and us with the same past and future.
As a new generation of spiritual leader in the Chinese music scene, after 10 years of debut and 3 years of experience, Xu Wei finally completed a new album "Every Moment is Brand New" that was three years in the making, with 11 songs to accompany you. Spend this loneliest winter night. In this album, the small things in life described by Xu Wei are like viewing the world through the eyes of children, but the messages in those songs have always been conveyed - joy and hope, tolerance and strength. That is determined by the attitude of the singer when facing life after going through ups and downs. It is a kind of optimistic, calm and calm feeling like a cloud and a breeze.
This is an album with the beauty of balance. The eleven songs achieve harmony and unity between heavy and light, urgent and slow, light and dense. Behind those notes is beating freely. Xu Wei's normal heart - In an era of rampant materialism, who knows how rare it is to have a normal heart.
This is a return to nature album. It clearly shows that no matter how the times change, no matter how the environment changes, some things will not change. For Xu Wei, that has always meant such words. ——Simplicity, kindness, purity, brightness, hope, sincerity--but in the album, they are just transformed into the most direct behavior: singing from the heart.
For many people, music is only a small part of life, even insignificant. But for others, including us, music is an indispensable part of life.
"Every moment is new" is Xu Wei's own and ours. Like freedom and wisdom, it will eventually be shared by all seekers. The power it exudes in clarity and introspection will be long-lasting and warm.
"Every moment is new" song introduction
"Innocence" - its original name was once called "Home". Musically, it is a work that returns to Xu Wei's early style. Although Xu Wei's arrangement focuses on the band's overall performance, the tension created by the prominent guitars and drums is clear and unambiguous. The artistic conception of the song's theme is between the albums "That Year" and "Time Walking". It not only contains the beautiful feelings and sustenance of nostalgia and family affection, but also has a pun on the persistence and longing for ideals. It was renamed "Innocence" It more directly demonstrates Xu Wei's perception of music and life, which is to return to nature.
"Sit and Watch the Clouds Rise" - This is a topical piece, with its leisurely and unhurried momentum becoming the backbone of the entire album. After two sections of realistic images, the song transitions to the passionate climax of the fourth section through a section of the intersection of the heart and the world. A transcendent spirit reaches perfect harmony in the worldly feelings. The music part is also remarkable, with its clear progression in structure and colorful orchestration, which reminds people of U2, and the flute in the interlude seems to be a wonderful revival of traditional Chinese culture.
"Warm Season" - Li Yanliang's arrangement can't help but remind people of Xu Wei's early rock and roll atmosphere. This song can clearly see where Xu Wei came from. He did everything when he was young No matter what, there are also marks of many people's youth there. The dawn of idealism has been obscured by the haze of cruel reality, but there is always a light of dream in our hearts that has never been extinguished. This is a passionate dialogue between guitar and drums, and it is also proof of Xu Wei’s warmth towards you and me in our youth.
"Once Upon a Time" - a song of nostalgia for youthful years and a declaration of no regrets, let us know more clearly where Xu Wei comes from. His past is actually the same as yours and mine. "There is sadness but also excitement." Facing the ups and downs of the world, the firm courage and confidence expressed in the song is a natural force. Xu Wei's arrangement has returned to the early band rock mode, but with a more calm demeanor. Under the relaxed interpretation of the musicians, the rhythmic movement that has washed away all the lead seems like a string of echoes from our youthful years.
"Autumn Sea" - This is a masterpiece that touches the scene and evokes emotions. What is more valuable is that the singer is not lost in the sadness of borrowing the scene, but cries with joy in the high distance and clarity, just like Tagore said , "These thoughts are the rustling of leaves; they whisper happily in my heart." - Autumn and the sea are Xu Wei's favorite seasons and scenery, perhaps because he grows older. Perhaps it is caused by the rich life experience. A person begins to move towards maturity and generosity, tolerance and transcendence. The faint sound of the trumpet is like a bird dancing on the sea in the sunset, peaceful in the soothing sea and free in the sky. The boundless.
"Go and drink tea"——The meaning of "go and drink tea" is "the ordinary mind is the way". In our seemingly ordinary daily life, it contains the most real and profound truth. Here, "walking on the way home" is a classic pun, which not only reflects the natural conclusion of the previous narrative of the song, but also reflects the firm belief in aiming high. This is a song that eulogizes the beauty of nature. It is also a masterpiece that expresses emotions through scenery, demonstrates humanistic care, and has profound implications. If we have a similar understanding, we can find that Xu Wei’s goal and direction is to create a cool world and a pure heart. soul. Musically, the somewhat heavy and noisy prelude and interlude achieve a unity of opposites and a delicate balance with the simple and beautiful lyrics and imagery, as well as the pure and sweet melody, because the arranger did not know this song when arranging it. What is the theme of the song? It is the power of music connotation that makes everyone understand.
"Travel"——Xu Wei has been thinking about the title of this song for at least 7 months, so that we have asked Xu Wei more than a dozen times when he will have a title for the song. The fact is, this is a song. It was the first song to be recorded, but it was the last to receive a name. I believe this is the most harmonious song in this album in terms of lyrics, arrangement, and artistic conception. It has a profound sense of being in the world, and also has the freedom of being out of this world. Those simple images, such as pine waves, wind chimes, butterflies, and sunset, are like colorful flowers picked up at hand. They form a perfect harmony between the innocence of children and the wisdom of the elders that are naturally revealed in the chorus.
Life seems to be a long journey. The picturesque mountains, green waters and beautiful scenery are all a stop in our journey. They are colorful but not obsessed. Relatives, friends, lovers and strangers are all passers-by in our lives. We meet each other without being greedy.
"Every moment is new" - this is a relaxing sketch, which reveals the external world and the entire meaning of life, and also metaphors Xu Wei's own inner changes, "all these changes / So simple", the transformation here refers not only to our world, but also to each of our sensitive hearts. In terms of arrangement, this song is also Xu Wei's first purely electronic work in his music career. The band is a very good electronic band. Their wonderful orchestration gives this song a transcendent beauty and joy. , many of the songs on this album describe the scenery that Xu Wei sees in his daily life, and this song is the same. The rainbow after a rain in the summer of 2004 made Xu Wei sigh at the magnificence of nature, and at the same time he expressed his thoughts about the universe. The moment of life is eternal joy, every moment is brand new, every moment is full of hope and freshness.
"Forever Free Heart" - I remember Xu Wei once wrote these words "Forever Free Heart" to his fans, and the fans printed these words on spontaneously printed T-shirts , traveled thousands of miles to Beijing and gave one of them to Xu Wei. It was very touching. Real Xu Wei fans are worthy of respect, because they can always feel the beating of Xu Wei's heart and be able to listen to Xu Wei's heart. I find my own language in the music, which was once called the song of the world, but it has become increasingly rare in this world dominated by matter. However, there are still hundreds of millions of lives with firm beliefs, because they believe that everyone Everyone has or will have an eternally free heart. Singing always comes from the heart, just like what Xu Wei did...
"Little Fish's Ideal" - Over the years, this is Xu Wei's first attempt to write a narrative work. This song is The last song of the album will also be a new beginning for Xu Wei. Although it is about a small fish in the deep sea, it is not a portrayal of the soul of every person who has immortal illusions. The ideal seems far away, but it is actually in our hearts, but most people have forgotten or are unwilling to admit it, but sincere people still persist, just like Dylan Thomas once wrote in a poem, "The Surprised Child" We look at the stars for a day, that is the purpose and the end. ""The Distant Sky" - a brand-new work with different feelings, a work that penetrates the depths of your soul. When listening to this song, you will feel as if you are in a Tibetan classical temple. It will calm your impetuous mind and soothe your noisy emotions in a moment

On December 24, 2005, the Tianjin concert was held
On February 16, 2006, the cover album "On the Road..." was released.
Album introduction:
The album "On the Road" is a collection of Xu Wei's 12 classic works. …", officially released nationwide by EMI Step Music today. Although "On the Road..." is an original collection of original works, it does not include "new songs", but classic works written by Xu Wei and performed by other singers, including Lao Lang's "Sunny", Ye Bei's "Rainbow", Faye Wong's "You", Tian Zhen's "Perseverance", etc. In addition, "On the Road..." also includes "Blue Bird" and "Two Days" from the 1994 "Red Star II". These two songs have not been included in any of Xu Wei's albums before, and have only been included in a few collection albums. appeared in .
Xu Wei’s creative process has gone from the manic and closed 1990s to the open electronic age, and from the vicissitudes of loneliness into the bright sunshine. "Elsewhere" and "That Year" established Xu Wei's unique positioning as a humanistic singer. "Time Walking" and "Every Moment is Brand New" brought Xu Wei's works into the hearts of the general public. Everyone is in Xu Wei's Find your own life experience in music, whether it is loneliness or sadness, submersion or liberation. The charm of Xu Wei's music crosses the boundaries between poor and rich. Students, young people in art, petty bourgeoisie, white-collar workers...listening to Xu Wei seems to be a kind of depth and taste. The symbol of...
In 2005, the vigorous "Out of Print Youth" concert made a summary of Xu Wei's musical journey in the past ten years. Those works that have accompanied fans through the past ten years are closely lingering in their ears. , but it is not enough to express the singer’s journey from 1994 to 2005. From the manic era to the chaotic era, from the passionate years to the warm embrace, Xu Wei is not a simple singer. He is creating popular works with a grateful heart. Therefore, he has sung twelve classic songs over the years. The "On the Road..." collection of Xu Wei's works came into being. It is a precious commemoration of Xu Wei's perseverance in creating good music. It represents the end of Xu Wei's previous creative journey, but a new creative journey is about to set sail, and it is also true. It presents Xu Wei's most self-conscious state in music: no pressure, no serious ideas to convey, just like the scenery on the road, with cloudy days, sunny days, and Xu Wei's musical appearance of breaking free from constraints.
The compilation of ten years of creative process is both an end and a new beginning. A climax in ten years is a kind of praise for Xu Wei. Xu Wei modestly said that "creation has become a habit and you can't be greedy." Therefore, in "Perseverance", "Pure", "Rainbow", "Like the Wind" Among 12 outstanding compositions including "Freedom", "Sunny" was chosen as Xu Wei's first recommended track in 2006, because it is the work that best suits Xu Wei's current status. This "Sunny" is the same "Sunny" written to Lao Lang, and this is the "Sunny" written by Xu Wei to himself, "I love this wonderful world/intertwined with too much sorrow and joy/I love this wonderful movie / Like a dream, like an empty flower", just like the name of "Sunny", it gives people the impression of sudden enlightenment, just like the old wolf came back after being away from the music scene for many years, even if we are far away from the most likely to have such emotions and nostalgia campus, but the simple love for music and youth still continues; "My friend who is always silent/you make me feel the strength/the pain that was in my heart/is like a passing cloud", Xu Wei is writing The scenery along the way of his life describes the intersection between his inner world and the outside world, his entry and exit into the world, and his calmness that is almost free of great sorrow and joy.
Compared with Lao Lang’s lamentable campus folk-style singing, Xu Wei once again presented a more life-oriented sentiment, like an urban troubadour who has found his home, with his unique sigh and sparseness. The hoarse voice spoke eloquently, and the whole emotion fell bit by bit in the open range, and finally found a balanced fulcrum. Xu Wei's "Sunny" has more and more clearly confirmed his "change" - from dark, obscure, and low to warm, bright, and cheerful. We can also easily find this inspiration from Xu Wei's original singing: no matter how the form changes, the most touching ones will always be those that are easiest to sing, the emotions and nostalgia for the old days and pure emotions. , this kind of touching touches the deepest part of the soul, which is indescribable.
When others are "passing on" the prodigal son who once lived elsewhere, the music gradually becomes peaceful and loses its "power". Xu Wei stands up and tells everyone: now it is time to have a grateful heart, It is joy to review and organize with a gradually calmer state of mind!
The end of one journey is the starting point of another. Xu Wei’s future is on the road!
In May 2006, "Xu Wei: Masterpiece MV Karaoke" was released

3 "The Past You"

Facing the ups and downs of the world, the firm courage and self-confidence expressed in the song are a natural force.
The distant Xu Wei
Xu Wei’s ups and downs on the music road are quite sad. At the end of 1994, when this musical talent from Xi’an came to Beijing to seek opportunities with his own works, At that time, his musical talent attracted the attention of people in the industry. After that, he signed a contract, released an album and won awards. The lyrics of his work "Two Days" were also selected by literary experts into the "Anthology of Contemporary Chinese Poetry". In the eyes of outsiders, Xu Wei has embarked on a road to rapid success, but no one knows what kind of confusion, despair, poverty and hardship Xu Wei has experienced along the way. At one time, he was overwhelmed by the pressure and fell into a deep depression. In pain. The contrast between his talent and his unfair fate made many people who cared about him sigh. It is precisely because of this that the care and encouragement of friends and relatives finally helped Xu Wei successfully return to the music scene.
Now Xu Wei can be said to have overcome all the difficulties and reached the other side of peace. In 2002, he released his third album "Time Walking", which immediately received rave reviews. In 2003, at the 3rd Music Awards, he received 11 nominations and finally won four awards including "Best Rock Singer" and "Best Rock Album". This glory marks the beginning of Xu Wei becoming a famous musician recognized by the industry and the public. Last year, when Xu Wei released his latest album "Every Moment is New", a small solo concert was held, which caused the outside world to call for him to hold a solo concert. On August 13 this year, his first solo concert will kick off at the Workers Stadium. Everything came naturally, but Xu Wei seemed a little unbelievable that this was true.
His music has become more and more warm, comfortable and clear with the changes in his life and worldview. However, there are some who were die-hard fans of his early music that was full of despair and restlessness. Music fans complained that Xu Wei stopped rocking music.
Xu Wei said that they don’t know that kind of suffering. I can no longer give them that kind of misdirection.
“You are standing on this busy street
Can’t find the direction you should go
You are standing on this busy street
I feel the panic I have never felt before”
——Xu Wei’s “That Year”
In order to promote his album, Xu Wei asked the company’s corporate propaganda to take him around to promote it. It was probably a first for him. Our interview took place in a fast food restaurant. The jerky celebrity and the jerky reporter sat facing each other. We chatted line by line while he carefully ate a hot dog. I don’t remember what we talked about, I just remember how he looked that day. He wore the standard shawl hair of rock singers at that time. For some reason, I clearly saw something called kindness in him.
Later, Xu Wei held an album press conference in a disco. He sat high on a stage with his guitar in his arms, and a beam of spotlights shot from behind him towards the crowd. Xu Wei sang "Perseverance" , "Two Days", "My Autumn", "Elsewhere", looking at him from a distance, like a lonely god. The people around him chatted nonchalantly, yes, yes, he is really good.
Later, I heard the news that Xu Wei’s life had become decadent. Although it was not news at that time to hear that rock musicians were decadent, people who discussed it felt sorry for Xu Wei because he was talented and always I don’t want him to sink like this, I always hope he can make good music. At that time, everyone had a vague awareness that rock and roll was a spirit, but people who made rock music should live a healthy life.
Many years later, Xu Wei talked about that experience with me. He said that the process of human growth is slowly searching, and you have to understand life. There are many things that you originally thought were right. , only to find out later that something was wrong. He once liked the music of the famous American rock band "Nirvana" very much, and that kind of decadence fascinated him. Later he learned that the reason why Kurt Cobain, the soul of the band, wrote such decadent music was related to his own living conditions. Cobain was extremely depressed and eventually committed suicide. "This thing has misled many people. They think that rock music should be like this, that it should be decadent." Xu Wei said.
In addition to bringing good reputation in the industry, the release of "Elsewhere" did not bring many actual benefits to Xu Wei. Due to many unfavorable factors such as the company's promotion and the music environment at the time, Xu Wei's somewhat advanced music was not recognized by the public at the time, and he did not live a performing life as a result. In China, performing is a prerequisite for a singer to make a living. The poor market environment has made recording a loss-making business. Xu Wei did not perform and lived on pitiful record royalties. It is hard to imagine that he was so poor that he could not even leave the house. He could only hide in his house every day, read and practice the piano. Even when his friends asked him to go out, he could only say, "It's better for you to come. I don't have much money. If I go to your place, I won't be able to come back."
