In the early years, Yue Opera adopted the "takenism" and transplanted 72 traditional Ying Ge operas, such as Double Hair, Embroidering Lotus Color, Selling Green Charcoal, Selling Grass, Picking up firewood roots, Evening Primrose, Walking in Guangdong, Meeting in the Grass Temple, and put them on the grass platform. Because there is no stringed accompaniment in local vocals, only the actors help the drums to beat the rhythm, so the early Yue Opera is called "Xiaoqu Class" and "Haoduban Class".
In the 1920s, the newborn calves of "Little Brother Ban" were not afraid of tigers and arrived in Shanghai via Shaoxing and Hangzhou. There are two anecdotes about the hometown of Yue Opera in Shengxian County: 19 18, Ying Ge Opera and Tongdao by Tong Zhongtai, Jin, Hua Yan Agui, Cai and Xiao (Yuyao and Shengxian are both Shaoxing). Artists Wei, Zhang and Ma Chaoshui of "Little Brother Class" can sing various vocals of "Ying Ge Opera" and use them for reference in Little Brother Class. One more thing, around 1920, there are two troupes performing day and night in Shanghai "Small World" amusement park, one is Jin Xuefen's "Xiaoqu Class" and the other is Yuyao Huilong's "Ying Ge Class". There is a pianist named Lao Xiuchun in "Ying Ge Class", who was invited to the theatre by an artist friend in Xiao Ge's class during recess. He saw a description of Zhao Wangniang in Pipa, and there was only the voice of "Dedu Dudu" on the stage, which was too monotonous. So he went back to Ying Ge to pick up the erhu and tried to sing it with the younger brother's class. It sounded very harmonious and later developed into the early stage of Yue Opera. Therefore, the book China Yue Opera is like the following passage:
"Shaoxing is the first stop for the development of the little brother class from rural areas to cities. It entered the earliest time, probably 1907. In order to develop itself, it first learned from Ying Ge class (Yuyao Tan Chunchun) and Shaoxing class, not only in singing, music accompaniment and makeup performance, but also transplanted and adapted some of their traditional plays. At the same time, "two plays" (Xiao Dan, clown) and "three plays" (plus a small student) were developed, and sometimes they performed with Shaoxing class. Therefore, Shaoxing Daban and Ying Ge Opera can be said to be the wet nurses of Yue Opera. "
It is precisely because the art of Yue Opera has adopted the principle of learning from others' strengths and eclecticism that it has grown from Quyuan rap to a prominent and eye-catching drama in a short period of 100 years.
