This time, I went to Chaozhou with a few friends and experienced a 4-day and 3-night journey to deeply experience Chaozhou culture, taste Chaozhou food, and experience Chaozhou life. In fact, this is my second time to go to Chaozhou. I couldn’t wait before setting off, because when I went there for the first time, I fell in love with this culturally rich city, and of course the food here.
From Guangzhou to Chaozhou, you can take the high-speed train at Guangzhou East Railway Station or the high-speed rail at Guangzhou South Railway Station. The price is about the same. The high-speed rail will take about half an hour faster. In fact, I think the two stations are similar. Everyone Just choose a station that is convenient for you.
The first day
When we arrived in Chaozhou, we first chose the most classic route to experience Chaozhou culture, from Archway Street to Guangji Gate, and then across the Guangji Bridge. Went to Hanwengong Temple, walked through the most classic tour route of this historic city, and experienced the leisure life of the locals. Go shopping and shopping on Archway Street, appreciate the city's scenery and humanities and art on Guangji Bridge, and explore ancient culture from the Tang Dynasty to the present at the Hanwengong Temple.
Guangji Bridge is the world's earliest opening and closing bridge, also known as Chaozhou Xiangzi Bridge. It is located outside the east gate of the ancient city of Chaozhou City. The eighteen-shuttle boat was rebuilt into a three-hole steel frame and two high pile-bearing bridges. Comprehensive repairs began in October 2003. The overall restoration was based on the Ming Dynasty style. The main function is now positioned as a tourist pedestrian bridge.
During the day, there are eighteen wooden boats in the middle connecting the bridges on the east and west sides. At night, the wooden boats will be untied again, allowing ships from the north and south to pass, every day.
After crossing the Guangji Bridge and walking further, not far away is the Hanwengong Temple. This is the earliest existing temple in China to commemorate Han Yu, a writer in the Tang Dynasty. Next to it is Hanshan Normal College. The Han Wen Gong Temple is located close to the mountains and rivers, with a quiet environment. Plaques inscribed by famous figures are hung all over the beams inside the temple, and 40 inscriptions from past dynasties are displayed along the walls. Among them are many calligraphy treasures and precious materials for researching literature and history, making the thousand-year-old temple more solemn and elegant. , brilliant literary spirit. Entering the Hanwengong Temple, you can appreciate the works of literati, and you can also quietly feel the simple, elegant, solemn and dignified cultural atmosphere around it.
When I came to Chaozhou, I liked the food here the most, so today we specially went to taste the authentic Chaozhou cuisine. The restaurant we chose is also a Chaozhou restaurant with many years of history - Yuchengji , it is said that this store has lasted for three generations. The address is No. E16, Taiping Road, Paifang Street, 550 meters walk from the Bamboo Gate Tower.
This is a restaurant in Paifang Street, but the price is very affordable, the environment is elegant, and the products are great. It is authentic Chaozhou cuisine, which is better than the food in Guangzhou. The Chaoshan beef balls are super authentic , must try it.
We stayed at Naixing Shihu Leisure Summer Resort in the evening. This hotel is located on Fenghuang Mountain, which is rich in Dancong tea. The air is fresh and the environment is elegant, just like a paradise. It rained a little when I went there. When I woke up in the morning, I found the clouds and mist outside, as if I was walking in a fairyland. The air was extremely fresh, and every breath I took was full of oxygen ions. There is a trail behind the hotel. Walking up the trail is Tianchi. When the weather is good, you can also see the beautiful sunrise. Unfortunately, we didn't see it this time due to the weather. Let's come here to watch the sunrise next time.
The next day
A day of red leisure. Today we took the red cultural route. In the morning we drove to Yongshan Village in Raoping County. This is an ancient small village with ancient houses and trails. , small bridges and flowing water, very quaint. It is very relaxing and comfortable to stroll around the village, enjoy the scenery along the way, and then go to the Weilong House.
There are still three historic Weilong Houses in the village, all of which are included in the national historical protection list.
One of them is being renovated, and one is still inhabited. I was very moved when I entered and visited it. I saw the large circle in the public area in the middle, which is like a large square. Looking around are the gates of every household. , observe carefully and feel carefully, it seems that you can see the lively scene of the old neighbors living in the dragon house.
Now the village is basically filled with old people and children, and most of the young people have gone out to work. There are not many people living in Weilong House, but it definitely still holds a lot of stories and memories. I hope it is old. All the Weilong Houses can be renovated, allowing more young people to learn about the history and culture of the Weilong Houses.
In the afternoon, we went to Raoping Qinglan Geopark. Qinglan Geopark is located in Zhangxi Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou City. It covers an area of ??23.22 square kilometers and is divided into Qinglan-Xianglu Mountain and Pingxi-Shuangjiniang Mountain. It is the only provincial geopark in eastern Guangdong. After investigation and research by experts, it was shockingly discovered that the Qinglan area was once a vast sea 200 million years ago. Due to volcanic movements, the current geological wonders were formed. The Qinglan area was ingeniously carved by nature to consist of caves, stone forests, peaks, canyons, and stone mortars. There are unique and magnificent typical granite landforms, and the rare granite cave is known as a shocking discovery that is difficult to find elsewhere and is a unique sight in the country.
This is also the filming location of Happy Twist Pictures' "The Shy Iron Fist". The surrounding air is fresh and the environment is elegant. It is especially refreshing after a rain. The most special thing here is the magical, unique and rich natural landscape of the strange mortar valley. The ten-mile strange mortar valley has three natural wonders: strange mortars, strange caves and strange rocks. Among them, the "nine-layered mortar" is the king of the thousand mortars. , can be called a strange thing in eastern Guangdong.
In the evening we returned to the ancient city of Chaozhou. As night fell, we were able to enjoy the night view of the ancient city tower. Tonight we stayed at the Guanhan Hotel, which is located in the Paifang Street area. This hotel is for viewing the night view. Good location. The rooftop is an open-air activity area where you can enjoy the night view. This hotel also has a unique starry sky room on the rooftop. You can watch the stars while lying in the room. It will be a super romantic thing.
The third day
When we got up in the morning, we went to taste the authentic Teochew breakfast, kway teow mixed with sand tea and kway teow in beef soup. It was really delicious, simple and tasty.
It rained a little this morning, but it did not affect our interest in playing. After breakfast, we set off to Zilian Forest Resort.
Chaozhou Purple Lotus Forest Resort is located in the northeast of Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, southeast of Phoenix Mountain, about 16 kilometers away from Chaozhou City. Although it is not very close to the city, because of this, it is far away from the hustle and bustle, close to the mountains, the mountain of the benevolent, and the water of the wise. It is uniquely located. It is a quiet and beautiful natural ecological tourist resort. It integrates tourism, natural health care, cultural experience, popular science education, etc. You can actually spend a day or two leisurely here.
A lot of good tea is grown on Purple Lotus Mountain in Chaozhou, so tea tasting is indispensable when you come here. When you are tired from walking, sit down and chat with friends, drink Gongfu tea and feel the slow pace. life under.
There is also a Zilian restaurant here, which also specializes in authentic Chaozhou cuisine. If you come here to play, you can have lunch here, which is also very delicious.
There are also many entertainment projects in the resort. There is an Internet celebrity glass bridge. You can also go to the science and technology museum to experience VR and earthquakes, and go to the tea factory to learn about the production process of tea. There are many interesting projects. Suitable for children, you can bring your family here to relax on weekends.
When visiting the intangible cultural heritage street of Paifang Street, you can start at Songfa. Songfa is a store that sells ceramics. It has three floors on the first floor. The first and second floors are mainly used as ceramic display areas. The 3rd floor is a cafe. I like this store very much. I can stroll slowly from the first floor to the third floor, then find a seat by the window to drink a cup of coffee and experience the slow life of Chaozhou.
Continue walking along Archway Street, you can also find many literary and artistic shops. In fact, many of them are not just shops, but like an intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, such as Kang Huifang Traditional Craft Embroidery Creative Center , Yi Tao Xuan Museum, Lai Thongfa Hand-pulled Pot and so on.
On Archway Street, you can not only see a dazzling array of Chaozhou products, but also learn about Chaozhou’s ethnic and folk arts. The pottery industry here is developed and the hand-drawn pots are exquisitely made. These folk arts are all It is a priceless treasure that we rarely get to know. When you come here, you can feast your eyes on it and learn a lot of new art knowledge.
After shopping around, it’s time for dinner. Tonight we went to eat authentic Chaozhou beef hotpot, which is also in Pai Fang Street. We chose Chaozhou Sanlang beef hotpot. The beef in this store is fresh every day. The address is at No. 46 Dongmen Street, 430 meters walk from the Zhumumen Gate Tower. Chaoshan beef hot pot is a specialty here. Everyone must try it when you come. The beef hot pot with sand tea sauce tastes great.
Tonight I will stay at a nearby B&B, Wushe Boutique B&B. This is a very charming B&B. The decoration style is new Chinese style. The furniture and decoration are very elegant. You will feel relaxed when you enter. It makes people feel calm. There are not many rooms and it is not noisy. There is an open-air balcony on the second floor where you can sit and relax in silence. I happened to bring my cheongsam with me, so I took some favorite photos in the B&B. The owner of the B&B was also very nice. He even invited us to drink tea and chat together in the evening to slow down the pace of life.
Day 4
Chaozhou is a national historical and cultural city with rich intangible cultural heritage, such as hollow wood carvings, hand-pulled pots, pottery, bead embroidery, and embroidery... The last day , we were preparing to return to Guangzhou in the afternoon, so we specially spent the morning to visit the Chaozhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and the Hundred Masters Garden, hoping to learn more about Chaozhou culture. There are many master-level works of art on display in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. Each piece of art is extremely exquisite. After reading it, I am really amazed. I can't help but admire the exquisite skills of these traditional craft artists!
Chaozhou’s handicrafts can be recognized by everyone, and it is indispensable for the efforts of local artists. There are hundreds of famous contemporary artists here. In addition to producing exquisite works of art, they are also constantly creating It is very admirable to pass on precious intangible cultural heritage to young people, and I hope more people will like traditional intangible culture.
In fact, there are many fun and interesting places to visit in Paifang Street. I would like to recommend you a B&B called Kapok Mansion. It is located at No. 2 Dongping Road, Chaozhou Paifang Street. This hotel is hidden in the ancient city of Chaozhou. , a B&B in the style of the Republic of China. What you will see after entering are patterned tiles, a gramophone, an old TV, and a rickshaw... The whole building is very retro and has a sense of nostalgia. After chatting with the boss, I found out that this place was in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. It was an inn back then, and it’s not easy to preserve so many old objects now. When guests enter, they feel as if time has returned to the Republic of China era.
This trip to Chaozhou has given me a better understanding of Chaozhou culture, and I also like it more, the humanistic atmosphere, the Chaozhou food here, and the handicrafts here...< /p>
I hope everyone will come to Chaoshan and experience the strong Chaoshan culture if you have the opportunity. I believe you will like it as much as I do.
