Qiubei County is famous for its rich pepper production and the “Puzhehei” landscape and pastoral scenery within its territory. Qiubei pepper, also known as "Qiubei small pepper", is well-known at home and abroad. Its products are exported to more than 20 provinces and cities in China, as well as Southeast Asia, South Korea, Japan, Europe and the United States. In 1999, it was named "Hometown of Chinese Pepper" by the country. Puzhehei, characterized by karst peaks, caves and lakes, is one of the holiday and leisure bases in Yunnan Province, a national AAAA tourist area, and a national key scenic spot. Qiubei County is also a key forestry county in Yunnan Province, a pig base county, a cattle and sheep base county, and a British and American high-quality tobacco leaf base county.
