The 7th Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge
Three-day Asia-Pacific Desert Competition It’s over, let’s do a review and share some thoughts.
Before departure, full of joy!
As a marathon rookie, I usually don’t have enough training. The captain was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to keep up, so he placed me in the third echelon. As a result, I was impatient and walked fast, becoming the fastest in the third echelon. , the first of the four members of the third echelon to reach CP.1.
The captain then asked me to go to CP.2 with the first echelon. There was a tidal flat in the middle. All the male team members started running. I was a female team member and it was my first time to run with my luggage on my back. It was a bit difficult to follow. , barely keeping up, and clocking in at CP.2 smoothly.
The captain asked me to stay with the second tier after a break. There was not much pressure, and everyone successfully checked in at CP.3.
Since it was easy to check in at the first three CP points, the captain took the first two echelons to rest at CP.3 for 40 minutes and waited for the third echelon members to arrive before setting off as a team, which directly caused the entire team to be in CP. .4 is stuck outside the closing time. At that time, many senior brothers said they could not leave and wanted to give up the game and take a short rest. The female team member insisted on leaving. It was getting darker and darker as we walked, and there were not many people on the road. With the moonlight, the whole team insisted on finishing the walk, which took 10 days. Half an hour (I heard that 70% of the people were locked up that day). Today can be said to be a day in the desert.
The first two CP points were successfully checked in. Two team members did not continue walking due to injuries. I almost never rested or replenished my energy and kept rushing forward. I regained my strength on the way to CP.7. Seriously insufficient, resulting in a slowdown in speed. Although they kept rushing forward, they were still stuck outside the check-in time. The melon-eaters who did not know the truth actually happily ate two pieces of watermelon and were about to continue to the next check-in point. He was forcibly stopped by the referee and sent to a reception vehicle. I didn’t understand it at the time, so I borrowed a sentence from a foreign friend at the University of Hong Kong: “I just walk for myself!”. I just want to finish it! ! !
At the Sha 7 Music Festival in the evening, girls who are good at singing and dancing appeared on stage, and the charity program was also very heart-warming. The song "Moss" ignited my desire to assist students in charity, and I hope that I can also stand on it in the future. The stage brings happiness and excitement to everyone.
The windy sandstorm started to gain momentum in the afternoon. At the same time as the music festival, many team members were also working hard to "fight" the sandstorm. In order to prevent the tent from being blown away, we also used canes to tie it up and pressed it with camel bags to try to get in. By all means. Sleeping in the tent at night, I kept thinking whether it would sweep me away. I really wished I was fat at this moment! ! !
Early in the morning, the sandstorm seemed to have stopped, but it started to rain. I brought back the soup and steamed buns. I hid in the tent and ate them quickly. With the heavy raindrops, I started to pack my luggage and tent. It was very cold in the morning, so everyone put on fleece jackets and thin down jackets, packed all their luggage, and the whole team gathered to set off.
At this moment, the sky began to clear up, so many team members were taking off their clothes on the road. Today’s task is not heavy, 11km, 3 hours. Everyone was gearing up, remembering the embarrassment of the first day of snow. Before the first check-in point, they kept climbing the dunes and rushing down the sand dunes. After checking in, they chose to walk on the ridge in the middle section. The last section was actually a road. Many people Pick up the cane and run towards the finish line. In the end, the whole team successfully completed the third day's mission! Many old friends said that what we experienced was the cruelest Yasha experience. Although the result was not perfect, we all came back intact. This is the most important thing, isn't it?
If you don’t go there for yourself, you really don’t know what it means, because Team A is only eligible to participate once in a lifetime! Many colleges and universities have been preparing for this for a year or more. How can they break out without deep training? It is especially unforgettable that Antai of Jiaotong University worked hard to unseat the National People's Congress, which had won four consecutive championships, and dedicated its highest honor to the school's 100th anniversary. This kind of spirit of fighting for honor and this kind of team is really the strongest among the strong!
After walking out of the desert, I had mixed feelings. When I looked at the five words "Walking with the Strong" on the back of the medal, I realized that this is really a game for the strong. More than 2,000 people from 97 colleges and universities in the Asia-Pacific region participated. , there are too many excellent people, and as a result, they run very fast, and the strong are always strong. Is it possible to do everything well if you do one thing well? NTU was the only one among hundreds of universities to win the Sand Gull Award in six years. According to the team leader, some team members were acclimated and suffered sprains. After taking intravenous injections and taking energy gel painkillers, they finished the game in tears without giving up. Salute to the strong! In this regard, I have already let go of being closed and prohibited from continuing to walk. If you are not as good as others, don't try to break the rules!
Because many great masters run fast, what you see behind you is footprints all over the ground. You have to make quick decisions whether to step on them or not, and which way to go. First, determine whether it is soft sand or hard sand. Based on my experience as a novice, the easiest way to determine is to prick it with a cane to see if the snow drags down. If it is hard, then quickly walk to the place where there are no footprints, and run as fast as you can, because you will find that there are not many places for you to run. If it is soft, then it is best to step on the footprints of others before you. There is also something to be careful about when making footprints. Choose ones with a similar stride length and frequency to your own. I like to take advantage of my long legs to find the footprints of boys with a longer stride. If there is a girl in front of you who is obviously slow in stride and cadence, then pass her as soon as possible.
As you walk, you will find that there are more and more route options. Some people choose to walk on the ridge, which is longer but saves effort. Some people choose to go uphill and downhill, which consumes physical energy but the distance is short, but it hurts the knees when going up and down. Even those with injuries cannot bear it. I personally prefer climbing, and especially enjoy the feeling of rushing down after climbing. However, the rhythm of rushing must be grasped, otherwise it will be as shown below.
Because it was my first time participating in the competition, I had no idea about the competition and had no idea what to bring. I won’t go into details about what the organizing committee announced, as shown below.
A few more words about other things:
The desert sun is poisonous, so be sure to wear sunscreen; the air is dry, even if you drink no matter how much water you drink, it will still dry out, so remember to bring lip balm; someone snores when you sleep at night. Bring earplugs; bring a pack of wet wipes, you may need them frequently, such as washing dishes. Don’t carry too many things in your camel bag, so as not to look for a needle in a haystack.
Be familiar with the distance and time of each stage, and bring reasonable supplies, such as energy gels, salt balls, beef jerky, etc. It is better to bring just the right amount, because it is really heavy to carry.
The competition will end early the next day, and there will be photo time. Female students can bring a red skirt to take beautiful photos. (PS: I have been envious of those girls in red for a long time this year. I will make up for my regrets next year.) The desert in Tengger is beautiful, but it is a pity that I only care about my feet and have no time to care about it. There are no beautiful photos left, even the imperfections are beautiful.
Running on the ideal road with a group of like-minded people, you can see the solid land when you look down, you can see the clear distance when you look up, and you can see the story behind you when you look back.
That's enough!
Walking with you will bring you the scenery of life; once you are a shaman, you will be a shaman for a lifetime!
Walking with the strong, Tengger Desert, see you next year!
