When Shanghai hosted the 8th National Games in 1997, a standard baseball and softball field was built in Pudong.

The specific location is at the intersection of Qihe Road and Yunlian Road. It was named Pudong Baseball and Softball Field, and later renamed Kangbei Baseball and Softball Field.

In 2003, it was converted into Sanlin Sports Center. After the renovation, the baseball and softball fields were eliminated. There are only football, basketball, table tennis, ice hockey and swimming venues.

Today, there is also a running baseball and softball field in Pudong New Area, located at No. 200 Puxing Highway, in the Pudong Baseball, Softball and Golf Sports Park.
