Children living in rural areas lack interest in extracurricular reading due to many factors such as family and school, which depends on the training and guidance of teachers. How to cultivate rural pupils' interest in extracurricular reading? In the experimental process of the subject "Problems and Countermeasures of Rural Primary School Students' Extracurricular Reading in the Implementation of the New Curriculum" undertaken by our school, I made the following attempts.
First, create an atmosphere to stimulate reading interest.
Education is carried out in a certain environment, and the environment itself is education. The so-called "human nature is like moss, dyed in the sky and yellow in Huanggang" shows that a good reading environment has a great influence on people. Therefore, I first create a rich reading atmosphere in the class to stimulate students' interest in reading.
1, create a good class atmosphere.
In order to create a strong reading atmosphere and let students be infected imperceptibly, I set up a book corner in my class. Because our school is a rural primary school, students' family economy is not very affluent, and the collection of students in the class is extremely limited, so some books in the class library corner are donated by students voluntarily and temporarily stored in the class; I borrowed the other part from the school library. In order to ensure that reading can be carried out in an orderly and effective way, that is, every student can see the books without losing them, I first instruct the students to number the books, and then democratically elect several responsible students to be librarians, who will be responsible for the storage and borrowing of the books.
In addition, I skillfully use the classroom walls and blackboards to release information and guide students to read: for example, I posted some banners of famous sayings and aphorisms on the walls, students' calligraphy and paintings, and some pictures to encourage students to read; In the corner of the blackboard, there is a column of "Daily Motto", one sentence a day, which is copied by students in turn. Students are often in such an environment full of books. Looking at their notes, they can often feel the vastness of the sea of books and the pleasure of reading, thus forming a desire to make friends with books.
2. Stimulate reading interest through celebrities or role models.
"The power of example is infinite." Usually, I will consciously introduce some stories about Mao Zedong, Gorky, Bing Xin and other famous people who love reading. And in the usual teaching, pay attention to the students who like reading in the class, praise them in time, and ask them to talk about the gains of extracurricular reading in order to stimulate students' reading interest.
Suhomlinski said: "Leading every student into the world of books, cultivating enthusiasm for books, and making books a guiding light in knowledge life depend on what position books occupy in teachers' own spiritual life." Therefore, the teacher himself is a good example. I stay in the classroom and read books whenever I have time. Seeing the teacher reading frequently, students unconsciously imitate and gradually embark on a reading journey.
Second, strengthen guidance and keep reading interest.
It takes a long time to keep students interested in extracurricular reading. Because of their young age, inattention and short time to remain enthusiastic about something, many children only have a "three-minute fever", so we should strengthen guidance.
1, guiding the selection of reading materials.
Pupils are young, have little knowledge and experience, and have poor discrimination and immunity, so they need to read after class under the guidance of adults. In rural primary schools, parents' educational level is relatively low. Most parents farm at home or work in other places. In their spare time, they either play cards or mahjong. Even if someone picks up a book, it is a dirty pastime. It is difficult for students to get the influence of "reading a good book" from their parents. In order to create an environment and atmosphere with books to read and good books to read. Teachers play an important role in recommending reading materials, that is to say, teachers shoulder the important mission of recommending excellent extracurricular reading materials to students.
In order to broaden students' horizons, enrich their knowledge and cultivate and improve their reading and writing abilities, I actively recommend and introduce reading materials closely related to the text content, and cooperate with reading teaching to build a bridge for students from in-class reading to extracurricular reading. When learning fairy tales, I recommend them fascinating reading materials such as Grimm's Fairy Tales, Andersen's Fairy Tales and Arabian Nights. During the general subjects, I let them read popular science books with appropriate levels; After teaching "Borrowing an Arrow from a Grass Boat" and "The Birth of a Stone Monkey", under my guidance, the students read the original romance of The Three Kingdoms in The Journey to the West with great interest ... In addition, every month, I have an extra-curricular reading instruction class of "Everyone reads a good book" in my class, and teachers or classmates recommend a good book for everyone to read.
Reading is a spiritual dialogue. Descartes said: "reading a good book is talking to a person with a noble heart." Therefore, it is particularly important to find extracurricular books suitable for students to read.
2. Guide reading methods.
In addition to guiding students to choose reading materials, I also teach students reading methods to attract students' unintentional attention and stimulate students' direct interest in reading with counseling lectures. Such as: teaching students to use reference books; Teach students how to read intensively and skim; Teach students to learn to think; Teaching students how to think when reading; Teach students how to write notes and make reading cards. Below I will focus on the production of reading cards:
Linguist Zhang once said, "Without cards, there is no reading". Although the card is small, it is very useful. A person's memory is limited. In order to keep the knowledge you have learned for a long time, you need to collect, sort out and classify it and make it into information cards for future study. Especially for students who are in primary school, forming the habit of making reading cards is actually tantamount to mastering a reading method and cultivating a good reading habit; It not only promotes students to learn from each other and inspire each other, but also further stimulates students' interest in reading, which is convenient for teachers to check students' reading effect.
In order to make a unique, valuable and knowledgeable reading card, many students in our class changed their previous reading habits of skimming, swallowing dates or being careless and aimless, and began to pay attention to the characters, main contents, good words and sentences in the book. Look at the reading cards they make, which can be described as various forms, such as animal shape, plant shape, fruit shape, character shape and so on. For the sake of exquisite cards, many students drew beautiful pictures on reading cards; Others have designed unique reading cards according to the contents of the books they read. For example, Wu Xiaolin read the article "Fly Higher". She designed an airplane-shaped reading card and wrote in the column of feeling: "I believe that as long as I have a dream, I will fly higher." I believe that each of us has a pair of invisible wings ... "When I asked her why she designed it in the shape of an airplane, what a good answer and clever design. For another example, the reading card designed by Ou is an open "book", which is like a bird spreading its wings ... These small reading cards are full of students' countless efforts, full of their love for books and thirst for knowledge.
Making reading cards is convenient for students to remember, carry and collect, which is helpful to cultivate students' ability of collection and accumulation, generalization and analysis and innovation, and also stimulates students' interest in extracurricular reading.
Third, carry out activities to consolidate reading interest.
Suhomlinski pointed out: "The joy of success is a great power, which can promote children's desire to study hard. Please be careful not to let this inner power disappear under any circumstances. Without this power, any ingenious measures in education will be of no help. " Pupils are competitive, so developing appropriate activities allows students to experience the joy of success again and again, which is in line with the age characteristics of pupils and is conducive to enabling pupils to acquire and consolidate their interest in reading.
1, launch a competition.
(1) Story meeting: Students prepare a story that interests them most in advance and introduce it to the whole class. One person can speak, or several people can speak in different roles.
(2) American reading: There are a large number of beautiful articles in extracurricular reading materials, which encourage students to read and recite with emotion, so that students can fully feel the beauty of the motherland's language and gradually improve their language appreciation ability.
(3) Drama performance: Students choose the chapters they are interested in from extracurricular reading materials and perform in groups of several people.
(4) Special knowledge contest: For example, when instructing students to read The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I held a knowledge contest of "Entering the Three Kingdoms" in my class to cultivate students' interest in classical literature.
(5) Other reading achievements display: such as handwritten newspaper display, reading card display, newspaper editing display, bookmark making display, etc.
Because the competition is interesting, exciting and challenging, in order to win, students must be fully prepared and read more books. Students win by reading, which consolidates their interest in reading.
2. Conduct selection activities.
The habit of reading after class cannot be formed overnight. If it is not checked and urged in time, it is easy to drift. In order to stimulate students' lasting interest, improve reading quality and deepen activities, teachers should also check and evaluate students' reading regularly and irregularly every semester. Teachers can adopt flexible and diverse evaluation methods according to the actual situation. If you can evaluate students' reading experience and beautiful sentence excerpts, set up an achievement award; You can also judge the "super reading king" according to the reading volume of students; You can also select ten "reading stars" every month according to the reading situation of students in all aspects, post photos of these ten "reading stars" in class magazines, and attach your own reading speeches under the photos ... This not only commends advanced students, but also promotes other students.
Therefore, various activities can effectively check the reading situation, consolidate the reading results, make students enjoy reading, stimulate students' reading enthusiasm, mobilize students' reading enthusiasm, and promote extracurricular reading step by step.
In short, "interest is the best teacher", and students' extracurricular reading also begins with interest. With interest, students will take the initiative to swim in the sea of books, or even put down the sea of books and immerse themselves in the joy of reading. Therefore, teachers should be duty-bound to take on the responsibility of cultivating students' interest in extracurricular reading.
