Master Xing Yun: How to Practice Buddhism (II), Buddhist Network.
The second part is heartfelt wishes. Foreword Before we do anything, we must set goals, and only after we have them can we work hard. With a direction, we can work hard. Setting a goal is "determination", which is called "wish" in Buddhism. Second, what is the heart of wishing? It is the basis of learning Buddhism. Initiation, also known as initial heart, new heart, new idea, initial heart and intention, refers to thoughts from the heart. Hua Yan Jing says that learning from Buddha Do not forget your initiative mind encourages us not to forget the bodhicitta of "up and down" originally issued by learning from Buddha. Learning Buddhism is a kind of kung fu to cultivate one's mind and nature. How to cultivate one's morality? To cultivate the mind, we must first "cultivate the mind". Scripture says that our hearts are like a field, a piece of land. Our mind needs to be developed to sow, and the developed mind can grow everything. Therefore, the first step in learning Buddhism is to start the mind, so that you can sleep well; If you eat with your heart, you will be full; If you do things with your heart, you won't do anything, so the first step in cultivating your heart is to do it with your heart. The so-called "make a wish" refers to a determination to achieve the goal you want, which is also commonly known as "determination". Wishing is like winding a clock. When the car is full of gasoline, it can generate forward power. Another example is that the ship is equipped with a compass, and the students have made a homework schedule and have a goal to move forward. Therefore, the mind is to develop the mind, and the wish is to establish the goal. Learning Buddha without wishing is like plowing without sowing, and a boat without compasses. How can you harvest without sowing? Navigation lacks a compass, how to cross to the other side? Therefore, to learn Buddhism, you must make a wish first. An important Buddhist scholar who participated in making a wish made a wish again, expressing his expectation for the future, which shows that Buddhism attaches importance to the future value. "Persuade bodhicitta" says: "Those who enter the Tao will get to the door, and the heart will come first; It's urgent to practice. Make a wish first. If you are willing to stand still, all beings can measure it. If you are willing to stand still, you can achieve Buddhism and Taoism. " "Great Wisdom" Volume VII says: "No desire for happiness, no standing; I am willing to be a guide and achieve something. For example, selling gold is done with teachers, and gold is uncertain. " "Solemn Buddhism is a great event, and it is difficult to achieve merit by one's own efforts. It can only be achieved through will. If Niu Li can pull a cart, someone will guard it. " In addition, the episode said: "Swear to destroy the troubled magic army." "On Bodhisattva's Making Wishes" said: "When a Bodhisattva makes a heart, it is necessary to establish sincerity and make a vow first. Those who make vows will never let go, never slack off, never slack off. " It can be seen that the reason why entering the Tao is a wish is because although the "fruit" is attracted by the "line", without the power of "wish", even if it is a line, it cannot achieve the expected purpose. Therefore, it is an important help and motivation to achieve all undertakings. Wishing is like sowing, and the quality of the seed can determine the future harvest; The motivation and size of wishing can affect a person's future achievements, and its importance can be seen. 4. What should I do to learn Buddhism? What should I do? The Shurangama Sutra says: "Because the land is wrong, the fruit is tortuous." Wishing from the heart should be consistent with greatness, righteousness, roundness and truth, that is, wishing should not be tempted by worldly desires, fame and power. Even if it is a matter of life and death, don't forget to lose your vows, just to prove the supreme bodhi and save all beings from the torrent of life and death, so as not to deviate from the right path. According to Volume 12 of The Collection of Translation Names, there are three kinds of minds in learning Buddhism: 1. Develop great wisdom: seek buddhas with wisdom, so that all living beings can enjoy Buddhism and joy. 2. Mercy and compassion: be kind to all sentient beings, suffer all kinds of sufferings, and vow to save them. 3. Make a big wish: according to Sihong's vows, send a supreme bodhicitta, seek Buddhism and Taoism, and descend all beings. In addition, such as gratitude, shame, kindness, virtue, deep confidence, respect, generosity, patience and so on. All the wishes that can help us achieve "self-interest, altruism and self-knowledge" and the highest goal of learning Buddhism are the hearts of Buddhist learners. In particular, we should send the following four hearts and make four wishes: 1. Four hearts 1. Compassion, people and I are blind: learning Buddha is learning Buddha, and Buddha is the embodiment of compassion. Without compassion, it is impossible to correspond to Buddhism. The fundamental purpose of Buddhism is "bitterness" and "joy", while "goodness" means "joy" and "sadness" means "bitterness". Therefore, if you can't be merciful, it is empty to learn Buddhism. Buddhism says, "Without compassion, there is no compassion of the same body". People with compassion can be kind to others, take care of all people regardless of their relatives and friends, and naturally have no gap with others, thus achieving harmony between people and me. 2. Send a letter, always believe in Buddha: always believe in Buddha is one of the top ten wishes made by Bodhisattva. When we study Buddhism, we should learn from the intentions of Buddhists and Bodhisattvas. We should always learn from good knowledge, good teachers and great virtues. If we have the heart, we will achieve something. 3. Develop bodhicitta and spread information from top to bottom: Goode said: "Bodhicitta is the cause, compassion is the foundation, and convenience is the end." Bodhisattva is seeking Buddha's way, compassion is descending sentient beings, and convenience is the four methods of convenience. A bodhisattva walker must have bodhicitta, the seeds of bodhicitta, and the convenience of great compassion, so that the unity of three hearts can be regarded as Mahayana, which is the great heart that all people who study Buddhism should have. If they can develop bodhicitta, they can enter Bodhisattva Road. 4. Self-centeredness, expanding the degree of completion: Self-centeredness means that our mentality can be all-inclusive, treat others as ourselves, and even sacrifice ourselves to complete ourselves. If you can be selfless and integrate yourself into the public and the group, then the public is me and the group is me. Therefore, without me, I am bigger and taller, and I can achieve everything and complete everything. Two or four wishes 1. All beings have boundless wishes: it is our bounden mission to learn Buddhism unless we are willing to be a Hinayana self-learner, spread Buddhism and educate many people. As the saying goes, "Spreading Dharma is housework and benefiting students is career", therefore, as long as you are a Mahayana practitioner, you must launch the great heart of "infinite desire of all beings". 2. Endless wish for troubles: Learning Buddhism is actually to fight against your own troubles, overcome your troubles, naturally show your true Buddha nature, and naturally be interested in Buddhism; On the other hand, if you can't get rid of your own troubles, you will continue to cycle in the sea of life and death, let alone measure people. Therefore, to learn Buddhism, we must first improve ourselves and swear off all troubles. 3. Infinite wishes of Buddhism: Since learning Buddhism is to arouse everyone's hearts, you must first have all kinds of knowledge and abilities. There are so-called "five civilizations" in ancient India: (1) Sentences: linguistics, phonology, exegetics and music. (2) Wonderful workmanship: scientific and technological knowledge. (3) Medical prescription: health care and medical knowledge. (4) Clever thinking: logical reasoning and ethics. (5) Naiming: concentrate on thinking about the five-multiplication causal theory, or show your purpose. Although the above five religions cover a wide range, it seems that they are not enough in today's diversified society. This just shows that Bodhisattva should learn all methods for all sentient beings. 4. The ultimate goal of learning Buddhism is to become a Buddha. Although it is not easy to become a Buddha, it must be "a hundred times to make peace and a thousand people to make wisdom", but it must be difficult for us to achieve it, especially if we not only swear to become a Buddha, but also swear to do our best to become a Buddha. This is the real "Buddha vows to become a Buddha." According to the scripture, in the past, all Buddhas had to make a wish. For example, the forty-eight wishes of Amitabha in the Infinite Life Sutra, the five hundred wishes of Sakyamuni Buddha in the seventh volume of the Sad China Sutra, the ten wishes of Maitreya in the Asking Sutra of Maitreya Bodhisattva, and the twelve wishes of the Tathagata in the Tathagata Merit Sutra to destroy all beings. Even the 18th wish of Manjusri Bodhisattva, the 10th wish of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, the 10th wish of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the vow of "I will never become a Buddha until the hell is empty" are all great wishes of all buddhas and bodhisattvas. The following are the wishes of the four great bodhisattvas in the future, thinking that the Buddha should follow suit: 1 Manjushri's wish is 1. I hope to regard the world of Shafo in Ganges as a Buddhist temple. 2. May Buddha's land shine everywhere. I would like to realize the Tao under the bodhi tree. If I am not satisfied, I can't sit down. 4. I am willing to talk about magic methods for all sentient beings in the land of buddhas. 5. May there be no women and evil ways in Buddhism. 6. May all sentient beings leave their troubles and see the pure Brahma. 7. May all sentient beings in Buddhism be born with them. 8. May all beings have enough to eat. 9. May poverty and suffering be widely used. 10. May all living beings be satisfied. 1 1. May all beings learn the five magical powers and take advantage of the air. 12. I am willing to speak for all beings and make people thirsty for love. 13. May all living beings think of clothes and get wonderful clothes. 14. Willing to support various treasures and tools on Buddhist land. 15. May all sentient beings stay away from the Eight Difficult Difference Method. 16. May all sentient beings have no distress or unhappiness. 17. May the Buddha country be solemn and boundless. 18. May all Buddhist temples have solemn merits and be placed in our Buddhist temples. Second, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra wishes 1. To the buddhas. 2. Praise comes from Buddha. 3. Extensive maintenance and support. 4. Confess the karma. 5. Follow joy and merit. 6. Please transfer to the French steamer. 7. Pray for Buddha to be alive. 8. Always follow Buddhism. 9. Hold all beings. 10. Everything goes back to. 3. Guanyin Bodhisattva wishes 1. May I know all the Buddhism quickly. I wish I had a pair of wise eyes. I hope I can speed up everything. I hope I can be convenient early. I hope I can take the Prajna boat soon. 6. May the earlier I come, the more painful it will be. I wish I could leave soon. 8. May I climb Nirvana Mountain as soon as possible. 9. I hope I won't give up soon. 10. I wish I had the same body. Fourth, the Tibetan Bodhisattva wishes that hell is not empty and that he will not become a Buddha; Bodhi can only be proved when all beings are exhausted. In addition, many ancient monks and great virtues made a big wish that "Buddhism can last for a long time, and all living beings can get rid of suffering". For example, Master Xuanzang "would rather die in the West than live in the East", which finally fulfilled his great wish to learn from the western regions. Master Jian Zhen "Why cherish life for a great cause!" Finally spread Buddhism to Japan. Even in modern times, Master Cihang said: "I am sincere today, not for self-interest. People are blessed. I have heard about it and even have the right to take advantage. Dear Bodhisattvas, you only rely on the best and bodhi heart, and you are willing to have three virtues and three bodhis with all beings in the dharma world. " They are all models for future generations to learn Buddhism. How can today's Buddha make a wish? Making a wish can strengthen confidence and perseverance, increase bodhicitta, strengthen faith, and improve our morality and personality. Especially in today's society, if one more person wishes for Cooper, one more seed will be sown to become a Buddha. If one more person learns Buddhism, there will be less violence in society. Therefore, I hope that you can always make a wish, make a wish to keep faith for yourself, contribute to your family, leave compassion for society, leave history for life, leave merit for the Dojo, leave good deeds for all beings, leave wishes for the future and leave light for the world. The following is a written wish to the modern Buddha, praying that everyone will make a contribution. First, the oath of Master Hong. First, may the Buddha shine and all beings get along. Second, may Dharma last forever and Dharma benefit. Third, I wish Buddhism prosperity and everyone can learn from it. Fourth, I hope that what I do every day can benefit all those who are engaged in the legal profession. Fifth, I am willing to learn what I have learned from Buddhism. I will never get tired of doing Buddhist things. 6. May all sentient beings always be merciful and benefit Buddhism. Seventh, I wish to be calm as the ground, and carry all beings without complaints. Eight, I hope that the public in the world will take the right path because they know the fruit. 9. May all beings be poor and sick, and be healthy physically and mentally. Ten wishes for social stability and a world without worries. May the country be rich and strong, and may you all learn bodhicitta. May the world be peaceful and the pure land of Buddha's light be on earth. Second, the members of the Buddha Light made a wish (1) hoping that we would respect life in the Three Treasures and the Dharma would last forever. Second, I hope everyone will believe in human Buddhism, live a happy life and have a happy family. Third, I hope to practice life, practice, and respect each other anytime and anywhere. Fourth, may we pursue compassion and happiness, do good deeds every day and correct our body and mind. Fifthly, I hope we can respect Members and welcome them. Sixth, may we have the right knowledge and views and explore our own cosmic nature. Seventh, may we prove that Buddhism is happy, never worry and stay away from ignorance. Eight, may we make a vow to universalize all beings, and the pure land of Buddhism on earth is now in sight. The members of the Buddha's Light made a vow (2) I would like to be born on the earth. Second, I am willing to be a compassionate person. Third, I am willing to be a sensible and wise person. Fourth, I am willing to be a strong patient. I would like to be a charity donor. I hope to be a clean monk. I am willing to be an optimistic and happy person. Eight wishes to be a harmonious Buddha and light person. Third, the housewife's oath Wen Yi is willing to protect Buddhism, honor the three treasures, and always be the protector of Buddhism. Second, I would like to practice Buddhism, build a happy family and make my family safe and happy. Third, I am willing to educate my children, set an example, make great achievements, and be a pillar of the country. Fourth, I am willing to help my husband develop his career so that he has no worries. Fifth, I hope to be filial to my in-laws and try my best to ensure family harmony. Sixth, willing to participate in social welfare activities, do a good job in environmental protection and nursing students, and create a comfortable living space for future generations. I hope to give happiness every day, share happiness with others and make the society full of harmony. May everyone be content and grateful, work hard and live a rich life, and there are no evil things such as murder, theft, robbery and fraud. Fourth, the police vowed to fulfill their duties and be brave enough to ensure that people live and work in peace and contentment. Second, we are willing to safeguard public rights, crack down on crime and eliminate the violent atmosphere in society. Third, I am willing to correct my body and mind, abide by the law and establish a good vigilance. Fourth, I hope my safety is inviolable and don't let my family worry. Fifth, I am willing to uphold justice, give fearlessness and free the world from evil and terror. Wen Yi is willing to study hard, enrich his knowledge, and do great things in the future to serve the country. Second, I would like to be filial to my parents, love my younger brother, and be a good boy who won't let my parents worry. Third, I want to respect teachers, get along well with my classmates, and be a good student with excellent academic performance. Willing to abide by the school rules and not do anything that will damage the reputation of the school. I am willing to be optimistic and cheerful, take the initiative to help others and do a good deed every day. Sixth, I hope the campus atmosphere will be kind and there will be no amphetamine attacks. 7. I hope there are good people in the world and there will be no horrible things such as kidnapping and extortion. I wish everyone a happy family and can grow up happily and healthily under the care of their parents and the education of their teachers. In fact, wishing from the heart is not the patent of Buddhists, and everyone in society should make a wish from the heart. Self-motivated, you can do things well; Make a wish and do something with a goal. Wishing with your heart is like developing energy. The energy in a person's heart is everyone's inexhaustible greatest wealth. "Persuade bodhicitta" said: "King Kong is not strong, but is willing to be the strongest; Vanity is not big, but the heart king is the biggest. " How big is a person's heart, how big is his achievement; How strong the will is, how strong the power is. If you have the heart, you will achieve Buddhism and Taoism. Therefore, to learn Buddhism, you must have a heart and a wish to achieve success.
