In the second year of Guangxu reign (1876), Ding Baozhen, the governor of Sichuan, reformed the transportation and marketing system of Sichuan salt, and implemented official transportation and commercial marketing. Tang Jiong, a native of Zunyi, is the general manager, and Hualian Hui, a native of Zunyi, is the general manager. The "Yonglongyu" Salt Company established by Huajia in Maotai Village, at the behest of Hualian Hui, built a brewery named "Chengyu Brewery" on the ruins of the "Maotai Burning House" destroyed by the military disaster three years later in the Qing Dynasty to produce Maotai Shao. Since then, "Chengyu Brewery" has been renamed as "Cheng Yi Brewery" following "Chengyi" and existed in Qianlong period. The wine it produced was renamed as "Huisha Maojiu".

Ten years after "Cheng Yi Brewery", county people Shi Rongxiao, Sun Quantai and Wang Lifu jointly founded "Rong Tai Burning House". This is exactly the same as the famous winery that once burned down the house in Qing Daoguang. Later, due to the withdrawal of Sun Quantai, Rongtai and Shaofang were renamed as "Ronghe Shaofang" and the wine produced was named "Ronghe Maojiu".

In the fourth year of the Republic of China (19 15), the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce of Beiyang Government presented "Huisha Maojiu" and "Ronghe Maojiu" produced in Maotai Village, Renhuai County, Guizhou Province in the name of "Maotai Brewing Company", which were collectively called "Moutai". Participate in the "Panama World Expo" sponsored by the United States in San Francisco. This is where the name of Moutai began.

In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), Zhou Bingheng, a Guiyang businessman, opened a Heng Chang wine shop in Maotai Village. Later, in the 30th year of the Republic of China (194 1), Guiyang took over Heng Chang Winery in Zhou and renamed it Hengxing Winery. The wine produced was first named "Heng Chang Maotai" and later named "Laimao".
