The textbooks in the second volume of the ninth grade are: mathematics, Chinese, English, chemistry and history. Biology and geography are finished in the second day of junior high school, and physics and politics are inseparable. The ninth grade was originally called Grade Three in Chinese mainland, but now it is expressed as "Grade Nine" in the curriculum standard, that is, the third grade of junior high school (Grade Three), which is the last year of junior high school.

The ninth grade is compulsory education in China, a graduating class of junior high school and an important course for junior high school students. Since the 1990s, junior high schools have cancelled graduation exams. Students can graduate as long as the final scores of all courses are above the passing line (60% of the total scores) within three years, and they have not been punished or cancelled.

However, in real life, students often drop out of school because of their own initiative, serious violation of school discipline, school rules or illegal crimes, and rarely because of other reasons.
