Nanben is 26 kilometers south of Chiang Mai. The environment is quiet and looks like a conch. The city develops along the east bank of the Yellow River and is bounded by a moat. There is one of the most important temples in the north in Nanben, Halibenchai Temple. Phra: That means this place is a Buddhist monument, which contains the hair of the Buddha. It may have been buried in the pagoda when it was built in 897 AD. There is also the Queen Chamatwi Memorial Hall, which is believed to be the Queen's final resting place. In the main morning market in the south of the city, people still worship the statue of the queen.
