The author of Shi Shuo Xin Yu is Liu Yiqing.

Liu Yiqing (403 ~ 444), born in Pengcheng (now Xuzhou, Jiangsu), was an imperial clan and writer in the Southern Dynasties. Song Wudi's nephew, Emperor Wu of Song, Changsha's second son, Taoist King Liu, and his uncle, Liu Daogui and Linchuan Wang, all had no children, so he took Liu Yiqing as his heir and attacked Nanjun Gong.

In the first year of Yongchu (420), King Linchuan served as a servant. During the reign of Emperor Wendi Yuanjia, he was the secretary supervisor, Danyang Yin, Shangshu Zuofushe, Zhongshuling and Jingzhou Secretariat.
