There were 12 emperors in the Qing Dynasty. Jiaqing dynasty was not decadent, but it created many precedents. Such as the only emperor who was assassinated, these precedents together created his tragic life.
First, the tragedy of Emperor Jiaqing's life, when the emperor was not smooth, Emperor Jiaqing had a long-lived father, and this emperor was the famous Qianlong emperor in history. After he ascended the throne for the first time, although he was an emperor, there was also an emperor's father on it; Although Qianlong abdicated, the power was still firmly in his hands, which made everything in Jiaqing subject to the emperor's father.
After he came to power, he experienced two white lotus uprisings and rebellions in succession, and was even assassinated by a cook, and almost died. During his reign, opium began to flow into the Qing dynasty, which also became the biggest scourge of poisoning the Qing dynasty. In family life, although I have five children and nine daughters, it pains me that the children leave one after another.
Second, he didn't prepare the coffin board before his death, so it was embarrassing to deal with the aftermath. As an emperor, Emperor Jiaqing did not live a comfortable life like his father. His father enjoyed his life and left a mess for Jiaqing, which seemed brilliant, but in fact the state treasury was empty. Fortunately, the existence of the rich man in Shenyang eased the financial crisis for Jiaqing.
In my personal opinion, the saddest thing about Emperor Jiaqing was that he didn't prepare a coffin board for himself, so that after the accident, there was no coffin to use to restrain the body. It took more than half a year from Jiaqing's death to his burial in Changling, Xiling, Qing Dynasty.
This tragic emperor struggled politically all his life, but his achievements were not as good as Yongzheng, let alone Kangxi.
