Waitanyuan no.1

Waitanyuan No.1 was originally the British Consulate General in Shanghai. The existing main building was completed in 187 2 (eleven years of Tongzhi). The facade is in English Renaissance style and has the characteristics of veranda architecture. It is an excellent modern building in Shanghai, and it is listed as a "national key cultural relics protection unit" together with the Bund complex. From April 20 1 year to April 7 1 year, Waitanyuan1was managed by Shanghai Peninsula Hotel.

Bank of China building
Building year: 82 years (about 1937)
The Bank of China Building is the only building on the Bund (Zhongshan East 1st Road) designed and built by China people. The original plan to build a 34-story building, making it the tallest building in Shanghai, was opposed by the owner of Sassoon Building next door. The lawsuit went from Nanjing to London. Finally, the Bank of China gave up the original plan, and the new building was 60 centimeters shorter than the top of the pyramid of Sassoon Building. The building is divided into east and west buildings. The building adopts the square spire of China ethnic style, and other railings and panes are treated with China ethnic characteristics. There are hollow patterns on both sides of each floor.

Pudong development bank building
Building year: 96 (built in 1923)
Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Building, a new Greek building, was originally the Shanghai Branch of HSBC. At that time, it was the largest bank building in the Far East and the second largest bank building in the world, second only to the Bank of Scotland Building in England, and it is still recognized as the most beautiful building in the Bund complex. At the top of the octagonal hall of the building, more than 20 meters above the ground, there are eight murals made up of hundreds of thousands of colorful mosaics, with a total area of nearly 200㎡. Shanghai Telecom Museum

Shanghai Happy Horse Club Building

325 Nanjing West Road looks like an ordinary house number. Two western-style buildings and a landmark bell tower have stood for 85 years, recording the changes of the city. This English-style building was designed in 1926 and completed in 1933, with a cost of 2 million taels of silver, equivalent to 400 million yuan. This building passes through Shanghai Happy Valley Club Building, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Library, Shanghai Art Museum and Shanghai History Museum (Shanghai Revolutionary History Museum), and Shanghai cultural DNA is deeply hidden in this Shanghai-style building.

Xiyitang

At the junction of Hami Road and Leke Road in Changning District, there is a church hidden among the trees. Whenever the sun sets, there is always a faint loneliness. It is the first church designed by Hudac and the first cemetery church in Shanghai-Xiyantang. This is a small and beautiful place, and the building area of the church is only 239㎡. This small building, a typical Byzantine style building, reveals a strong eastern European style, and its aesthetic value is by no means lower than that of the famous Muen church.

Hudac Memorial Hall
Age: 89 (built in 1930)
Hudac, a Hungarian architect, left nearly 100 buildings for Shanghai, keeping the most important memory of Shanghai's city appearance. Hudac Memorial Hall used to be Hudak's own residence. This building has white walls, brown Shi Zhuan, dark brown bare wooden frame and reddish brown brick walls. The steep slate tile double slope roof, towering brick chimneys and symmetrical gables all reveal a strong British pastoral style.

St. John's university former site
Building age: at most 140 years.
Huazheng Changning Campus, located on the Suzhou River, is a place where history and reality blend. Its predecessor is Shanghai St. John's University, which is known as "Oriental Harvard" and "Oriental Cambridge". Founded in 187 9, it has a history of 140 years. The campus is small, but unique. Western-style school buildings with distinctive styles are mixed with some traditional buildings in China, which are simple and elegant and have a strong cultural atmosphere. From 65438 to 0952, St. John's University was dismantled in the national department adjustment and merged into many universities in Shanghai. The original site of St. John's University is allocated to East China University of Political Science and Law, and some buildings can be visited for free during the semester.

Pa er Sevik editorial department former site
Building age: over 90 years old.
This is a 136 ㎡ imitation three-story new-style alley house, with tough masonry, copper and iron fence entrance, open gallery, grey wall and western-style decoration, which has a strong Shanghai style. It used to be the editorial department of the central organ publication Bulsvik (1927- 1928), and now it is the "Shanghai Youth Education Base". There are four showrooms in the former site, which display the life of members of the editorial department and editorial board and the historical materials of the revolution in Changning District.

Yueyang famous doctor out-patient department
Building year: 83 (built in 1936)
No.44 Qinghai Road, now the outpatient department of Yueyang Hospital, was the mansion of Zhou Xiangyun, a real estate tycoon who was one of the eight families in Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Zhou Xiangyun was a "super rich" with 80 million assets during the Anti-Japanese War, and he paid more attention to housing than the current luxury houses! There are 52 rooms in the whole building, and there are many unexpected functions: the bar and elevator necessary for the villa now; Toilets and spittoons that were rare at that time; Now there is no universal automatic shutter door and intercom between the concierge and the main building! This authentic western-style building cost 400,000 French francs.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) second largest girls' school former site

In Zhong Yan Green Space, the largest ecological green space in the center of Shanghai, two old Shikumen Hutong buildings with a history of 100 years stand quietly. This is the site of the second congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the former site of the civilian girls' school, where China's thoroughly anti-imperialist and anti-feudal democratic revolutionary program was born, and the first school in China to train female cadres was also born. The newly renovated building basically retains the architectural style of 19 15 when it was first built. The exhibition area of the memorial hall is about 1 170 ㎡. Sihang warehouse former site

Sixiang Warehouse is a six-story building with reinforced concrete structure, which is jointly funded by four banks: Jincheng, Zhongnan, Mainland and Old Shanghai Salt Industry. During the Battle of Songhu, there was a vigorous battle to defend the fourth-line warehouse here, which is the only remaining war site in Shanghai. Now this is the four-row warehouse memorial hall. The bullet marks and gun holes on the west wall of the warehouse have been restored to their original appearance, adding a lot of precious historical materials. There are many real war scenes in it, which are very shocking! .

Former residence of Liu Changsheng
Building year: about 100.
Liu Changsheng's former residence, No.81Yuyuan Road, is also the exhibition hall of underground organization struggle history in Shanghai. 1946- 1949, Liu Changsheng, then deputy secretary of Shanghai Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, pretended to be the small boss of "Rong Tai Smoke House" and lived on the second floor of this villa. As a businessman, he works underground in secret. At that time, this villa was one of the secret organs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Bureau. In 200 1 year, Jing' an plans to develop 900 city squares. At that time, Liu Changsheng's former residence, which was over 80 years old, was also relocated for more than 100 meters. Former Residence of Maozedong
Building age: 104 (completed in about 19 15 years)
This is an old building with Shikumen architectural style in Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s. An archway with the words "Jiaxiuli" is erected in the alley, and the ground in the alley is paved with blue bricks. Mao Zedong's inscription is embedded in the blue brick wall. This Shikumen building was built about 19 15 years ago, which is more than one hundred years ago. Mao Zedong has been to Shanghai more than 50 times in his life and lived in Jing 'an three times. 3 18 Jiaxiuli, Muming Road (No.7, Lane 583, Weihai Road) is the longest house in Mao Zedong. Cai Yuanpei's former residence

Cai Yuanpei's former residence is a detached garden house, with yellow cobblestone walls, dark wooden frames exposed from gables and red tile roofs, which are friendly and elegant against the lush trees. This is Mr Cai's last residence in Shanghai and the best preserved former residence in China. Strolling through the former residence, watching the carefully designed exhibition of Mr. Wang's life and listening to the stories of great men are enough to realize the significance of "calligraphy should always remain fragrant"

Xujiahui Catholic Church
Building age:109 (completed on1910)
Xujiahui Catholic Church, formerly known as St. ignatius's Cathedral, was built in 19 10, and can accommodate more than 3,000 people at the same time. It is the largest Catholic church in Shanghai. Due to its large scale and gorgeous decoration, the church was once known as "the largest cathedral in the Far East". The appearance of the whole church is the Gothic style of medieval Europe, with red brick and granite edges, graphite tiles on the roof, and Gothic spire bell towers on both sides of the top of the lobby. There are 64 root pillars carved by Jinshan stone carving in the hall. Doors and windows are gothic pointed arches, inlaid with colored glass, inlaid patterns and statues, and the roof is decorated with copper domes of different sizes, which is exquisite and unusual.

Bajin former residence

Wu Kang Road 1 13 is the last residence of Ba Jin, a great literary master, and the place where Mr. Ba Jin has lived and settled in Shanghai for the longest time. This small building was built in 1923 and used to be a Soviet business representative office. From 1955 to 2005, Ba Jin lived in this three-story building. This is a European-style detached garden house, and the yard is full of magnolia. In this garden house, the joys and sorrows of Ba Jin's later years are intertwined, and it is also a literary shrine in the eyes of millions of readers. At present, Ba Jin's former residence is open to the public free of charge, and some of Ba Jin's daily necessities are stored in the former residence.

Nanyang Public School Old Building (Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum)

Shanghai Jiaotong University Xuhui Campus can be traced back to 1896, when Nanyang Public School was founded by the Qing government, which was one of several beginnings of higher education in China. At present, the former site of Nanyang Public School in Xuhui Campus of Jiaotong University includes 1 gatehouse, intermediate people's court, old library, gymnasium, comprehensive office, engineering hall and so on 13 historical buildings. The original site of Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum was built in 1896. It is a two-story western-style building, which was used as a student dormitory in the early days. Now it is the China Shipping History Museum and the Dong Haoyun showroom. Here we can see the history of ships and shipping since the Neolithic Age, and the legendary life of Dong Haoyun, one of the "seven ship kings in the world".

Xujiahui Observatory

Xujiahui Observatory was founded in 187 2, which is the first observatory along the coast of China. Its address is near the tomb of Xu Guangqi, a scientist in the late Ming Dynasty. Later, 190 1, a new Renaissance-style planetarium was built, which is the Xujiahui Observatory we see now. Zikawei Library

The earliest modern library in Shanghai is also the epitome of China's western learning spreading eastward and eastward. The library is only open on the first floor and can watch art exhibitions; The second floor is closed to the public for a long time, and readers need a reader's card to enter. The existing Xujiahui Library is two buildings criss-crossing north and south: the north building (large study room) was built in 1897, and the facade was set with many European pilasters, pine shutters and frames. Xu Guangqi Tomb (Memorial Hall)
Building year: 385 (built in 1634)
Xu Guangqi's Tomb is located in Guangqi Park, Nandan Road. It was built in the seventh year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1634). It is said that the original cemetery covers an area of 20 mu and has 10 graves, where Xu Guangqi and his wife Wu are buried, surrounded by four grandchildren. By the end of 19, most of them had been damaged, leaving only 12000㎡ in the cemetery. The old house in Guangqi Park is called Nanchunhuatang, which has a history of more than 500 years (about 150 5- 152 1 year), but this house was originally located in Meilong Road, and was moved to Guangqi Park for the purpose of protecting historical and cultural buildings, and was "companion" with Xu Guangqi's tomb. Nanchuanhuatang is a model of architecture in Ming Dynasty. The hall is decorated with Ming-style furniture and displayed according to the decoration of Xu Guangqi's former residence. The window lattice is a quaint Ming-style wooden window, which is full of ancient meaning. There are four exhibitions in the memorial hall, namely: Xu Guangqi's Life, A Complete Collection of Agricultural Geometry, Chongzhen Almanac and Xu Hua, and Xu Guangqi and Shanghai.

Huang Daopo Tomb (Memorial Hall)
Building age: 657 (rebuilt in1362)
Huang Daopo's Tomb was built in the Yuan Dynasty (133 6), but it was destroyed by the war. It was rebuilt in 136 2 and repaired many times. 1957, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government rebuilt and erected a stone tablet. Now Huang Daopo's tomb is what it looked like when it was rebuilt on 198. The whole cemetery covers an area of 1 mu, including Huang Daopo Memorial Hall. The main exhibition hall shows Huang Daopo's life and her historical contribution to China's textile industry. The other two exhibition halls show textile tools and cotton textiles in different periods, many of which are treasures preserved in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) First Congress Memorial Hall
Building age: 99 years
192 1 July, China was born at No.76 Xingye Road (formerly No.65438 Wang Zhi Road +006), an old Shikumen residential building with a brick and wood structure, on the first floor along the street. This old building, built in 1920, is the site of the first national congress of China, China. This is a typical Shikumen building in Shanghai. The outer wall is criss-crossed with blue-red bricks, inlaid with white chalk lines, the lintel is carved with alum red, the black painted door is equipped with copper rings, the door frame is surrounded by beige stone strips, and the upper part of the lintel is decorated with arched plastic flowers. It is now a major memorial hall in the Communist Party of China (CPC) and has been open to the public free of charge since 2008.

Central organ former site memorial hall
Building year: 103
The mottled red-gray bare brick wall, with two floors above and below, is a typical old Shikumen building. No.6 Li Yuyang Street (now Lane 567, Huaihai Middle Road) is the memorial hall of the former site of the Central Organ of the Chinese Socialist Youth League. The building was built around 19 16, which has been around 100 years. 1920, Chen Duxiu and other eight people founded the Shanghai Socialist Youth League here. In order to cover up this organization, they also set up a "foreign language club" to teach Russian, which laid a language foundation for party member to study in the Soviet Union in the future. In 200 1 year, Li Yuyang was rebuilt and expanded, and the memorial hall of the former site was established. The memorial hall was reopened after renovation in May 20 19.

Changshu Wushi Memorial Hall

Wu Changshuo Memorial Hall, located in Lujiazui Central Green Space on the north side of Jinmao Building, originally belonged to Chen Guichun, a gentry and businessman who made his fortune by transportation and business. Built in 19 17, with a building area of 2,765 ㎡, it was once one of the largest private houses in Shanghai at that time and has been renovated and opened to the outside world. This is a quadrangle-style residence that combines the eastern and western cultures. The rooms, bedrooms, study and lounge upstairs are decorated in the traditional style of China. Downstairs restaurants, tea rooms, bathrooms and other decorations and equipment are Western-style. The painted beams in the hall are very delicate and enjoy the reputation of "Pudong Carved Building".

Gao Qiao Yangxiantang
Building age: 86 years
In the early 1930s, Shen, a businessman from Gao Qiao, built a "Immortal Hall" which combines Chinese and Western cultures on the edge of Jiebang (Gao Qiao Port). Chinese houses use western skeletons. From the front, the house is a Chinese house with one hall and two rooms. Seen from the back, the spacious balcony has the style of a western-style villa. This 1000㎡ house is the first house with basement in town, and the materials are very particular. It is said that Shen is steadfast in everything he pursues. Because of his excessive pursuit of high standards, he died of exhaustion before the construction was completed. Yangxiantang is now open to the public free of charge as a historical and cultural exhibition hall in Gao Qiao.

Zhangwentian former residence
Building year: 127
Zhang Wentian, a famous revolutionary, can be said to be one of the most influential celebrities in Old Pudong. His former residence was built in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, and it is a residence with the characteristics of Jiangnan residence, with 488㎡ 13 rooms. There are main rooms and wing rooms, and the roof is carved by ancient officials, which shows that the owner of the house once had a high status. There are vegetable gardens, green trees, bamboos, ditches, rivers and bamboo fences outside the former residence, which is an idyllic scenery. Now it is a rare cultural landscape in Pudong and a youth education base in Shanghai. On the west side of the former residence, there is a showroom of Zhang Wentian's life, covering an area of 3,500m2, which shows the bumpy and magnificent life of the old revolution.

Historical buildings of Hujiang University
Building age: more than 80 years
Simon Road Campus of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, formerly known as Hujiang University, was founded in 1906. The school has nearly 60 teaching buildings, staff quarters and auxiliary rooms. Although many buildings have been demolished one after another, 35 main buildings of Hujiang University are still preserved, which is a well-preserved missionary school building in Shanghai. Most of these buildings are paved with fair-faced red bricks and roofs with red tiles on two slopes, which are unified in style, or in the shade of trees or in harmony with modern buildings, and are a beautiful landscape of Shanghai University of Science and Technology. Among them, Siyantang, Simengtang, Silietang, Sannvtang, Jenn Memorial Library and Siweitang are the most famous.
