The roles of Chang 'an and Luoyang are changing.
The Han Dynasty is a dynasty named Liu, which is divided into pre-Han Dynasty established by Liu Bang (Emperor Gaozu) and post-Han Dynasty established by Emperor Guangwu. Historians of later generations used to call the former Han Dynasty "Western Han Dynasty" and the later Han Dynasty "Eastern Han Dynasty", which came from the different positioning of their respective capitals.
In 206 BC, Liu Bang was named "King of Hanzhong". In the "Chu-Han dispute", Liu Bang defeated Xiang Yu and became the best in the world in 202 BC. On February 28th of that year, Liu Bang held the enthronement ceremony in Sishuiyang, Dingtao, Shandong Province, with the title of "Han". Luoyang, the original capital, was supported by ministers, who thought it was "impregnable and reliable."
But it didn't take long for Liu Bang to change his mind and make Luoyang his capital and Chang 'an his capital. Facts have proved that Sean's analysis played a decisive role. According to "History of Zhang Han Liangchuan", Sean thought that Luoyang was "a small country, but hundreds of miles, with a thin land and being attacked on all sides, not a country that used force"; Chang 'an is "Huang Jincheng thousands of miles away, a land of abundance".
In the first year of Jianwu (AD 25), Luoyang finally ushered in a turning point, from "Mingdu" to "Mingdu" in the Eastern Han Dynasty. This year 10, he broke away from Wang Mang's new stove and became emperor in Taizu (now Gaoyi, Hebei Province). In order to show his Liu's orthodoxy and the revival of the Han family, he still takes "Han" as the country name, that is, the Eastern Han Dynasty. After Liu Xiu decided that Luoyang was the capital (East Capital), Chang 'an was the capital, which was called "West Capital" in history.
