The Historical Evolution of Shanghai South Railway Station
The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway 1906 started, and the starting point was chosen in the bustling business district south of the old city of Shanghai. On March 20th, 1908, Shanghai South Railway Station officially handled passenger transportation, and opened the bus from Shanghai South Railway Station to Songjiang. 10, 1908, 165438, Shanghai-Fengjing section of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway was completed.

In April (1April, 908), the Hainan Railway Station was completed.

August 19 12, 1 xiaodongmen-south station tram line1was opened by huashang electric company (the whole line was opened on June 19 16)/kloc-0.

Because the two stations are located on the north and south sides of the city, it is inconvenient. In 19 16, the connecting line between Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway and Shanghai-Nanjing Railway (Hu Xin Railway) was built on the west side of the city, and Shanghai North Railway Station became the main station of Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway, while Shanghai South Railway Station remained the railway station with the largest freight volume in the Yangtze River Delta.

After the completion of the Shanghai-Xinjiang Railway, passengers can get on the bus from Shanghai North Railway Station or Shanghai South Railway Station and go to Hangzhou at will. The train from Shanghai South Railway Station connects with the train from North Railway Station at Xinlonghua Station, and then goes to Hangzhou. Passengers from Hangzhou to Shanghai, those who get off at North Station take the front bus, and those who get off at South Station take the back bus. After arriving at Xinlong Hua, they took two trains and arrived at the two terminals of North Station and South Station respectively.

1937 Battle of Songhu, on the afternoon of August 28th, Japanese warplanes bombed Shanghai South Railway Station, and traffic was interrupted. After the fall of Shanghai, the Japanese army demolished the long 1.5km railway from Shanghai South Railway Station to Rihui Port. The freight business of Shanghai South Railway Station was moved to Rihui Port Station, and the passenger transport was undertaken by Shanghai North Railway Station. Since then, Shanghai South Railway Station and a section of railway in front of it have ceased to exist.

With the successful completion of the greening around "Torch Platform" located on the north side of the city power square of South Railway Station, it marks that the landscape greening project of South Railway Station has been basically completed, and the greening rate is as high as 32%, which makes people feel that running into Shanghai South Railway Station is like entering a big park. The whole South Station is shaded by trees, with rugged rocks and winding paths, and all the hustle and bustle of the city can be forgotten. The most peculiar thing is a landscape yellow wax stone standing in Yulanyuan, North Square of South Railway Station, which weighs 80 tons and is nearly 8 meters high. Produced in Guangdong, it is the largest single landscape stone in Shanghai, temporarily named Zimufeng.

The biggest architectural feature of Shanghai South Railway Station is that there are few buildings on the ground, and 2/3 of the building area is underground, which frees up more space and can be used for greening. However, greening while building the South Station has changed the tradition of planting trees after the project is completed. In order to accurately locate the planting trees, the greening department has used various precision surveying and mapping instruments to make the planting positions of trees completely consistent with those drawn on the drawings, which is the first time in the construction of large-scale key projects in the city.

Most of the greening of Shanghai South Railway Station Square belongs to roof greening. At least 1.5 m of green molding soil should be backfilled at the top of the underground structure of the two floors of the square for greening, which requires high water supply and drainage.

The total green area of the South Railway Station has reached 8.5 hectares. * * * Planted 3,000 trees, 500,000 flowering shrubs and 45,000 square meters of lawn. After nearly two years of construction and planting, the final survival rate of seedlings reached over 98%. After the official operation of South Station, it is not only a large-scale transportation hub, but also a good place for surrounding residents to exercise and relax.
