Content introduction:
This book is a world-famous scholar and the author of The End of History and The Last Man, Francis? Fukuyama's latest book aims to explore the relationship between the material progress of human society and the development of human morality. The author believes that all religions, politics and laws cannot explain the phenomenon that human material progress and human moral development are out of sync. For example, the direct consequence of human industrial revolution is the material progress and the retrogression of human morality, and the rampant colonialism, personal hedonism and various tyrannies in the19th century are the concrete manifestations of this phenomenon. The new scientific and technological revolution in the mid-20th century and the subsequent post-industrial society and information age have brought various social phenomena to the West, such as crime escalation, family disintegration, trust crisis and so on. This is because Fukuyama believes that the fundamental reason is the biological trend of human beings, that is, with the change of human living conditions, human beings have a big transportation process both physically and psychologically. Only by constantly adjusting society according to the reality of human material progress can a relatively sound social order be established.
