Do you know which are Twenty-four Histories? What about its evolution and origin?
A seemingly common-sense question may not be answered, or it may not be clear. Try it if you don't believe me. Get a pen and paper ready and give you half an hour to see if you can recite all the twenty-four histories. It is estimated that no more than 10% of the people got all the answers correctly!

What is the "twenty-four histories"? Twenty-four History is the general name of twenty-four historical books that have been included in the official history since the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. These official histories have an evolutionary process of continuous accumulation and increase.

During the Three Kingdoms period, there were

"Three histories" refers to Historical Records, Hanshu and Han Ji in Dongguan compiled by Serina Liu and others in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Later, The History of the Later Han Dynasty, edited by Ye Fan, came out, replacing The History of the East, which became one of the three histories. Together with the History of the Three Kingdoms compiled by Chen Shou, it became the "first four histories" and the history was called "the first four histories".

During the Tang Dynasty, the official organization compiled Eight Histories of the Southern and Northern Dynasties and The Book of Jin, which together with the previous four histories, became the "Thirteen Histories".

In the Song Dynasty, on the basis of the thirteen histories, Southern History, Northern History, New Tang Book and New Five Dynasties History were added, forming a new "Seventeen History".

In the Ming Dynasty, the History of Song Dynasty, the History of Liao Dynasty, the History of Jin Dynasty and the History of Yuan Dynasty were added and merged into the Twenty-first History.

In the early years of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, Ming History was published, and then Old Tang Book was added, which was collectively called Twenty-three History. When compiling Sikuquanshu, scholars also compiled the history of the old Five Dynasties from Yongle Dadian, which was approved by Emperor Qianlong and incorporated into the official history, collectively known as the Twenty-four History of King James. Because this title has always been given by imperial edicts and has been widely quoted, the title of "Twenty-four History" is the loudest and often becomes synonymous with the official history of past dynasties. The Twenty-four History printed by Qianlong is large in scale and voluminous, with a total of 3249 volumes and more than 47 million words.

In the Republic of China, people compiled the draft history, and the "twenty-four histories" became the "twenty-five histories".

At present, together with the history of the Republic of China, it is the "Twenty-six History".

There will be "twenty-seven histories" in the history of People's Republic of China (PRC) (PRC), but this "twenty-seven histories".

It can be the history of North Korea, that is, while the dynasty flourished and developed, the historical materials will be more accurate, which is of great significance for summing up and commemorating!

It is not difficult to know which twenty-four histories, but it is difficult to read through twenty-four or even twenty-six histories! In fact, since having these titles, probably few people can read them all! What's more, even after reading it, how important can it be?

So just read wisely and selectively! Isn't it good to consult when necessary and enjoy sexual reading when you are in leisure? Reading history makes people wise, not nerds, don't you think?
