History of Guandi Temple Scenic Area
In the 43rd year of Qianlong (1778), the Guandi Temple west of the main entrance of the villa was expanded to honor Guandi. According to the inscription, the restoration was presided over by Lian Win, Assistant Minister and Wang Shen, and the yellow tile was changed in shape to improve the level to show that the country respected the spirit of loyalty.

Guandi Temple was expanded in the 25th year of Qianlong and rebuilt in the 43rd year of Qianlong, forming a final pattern, which made the temple more in line with the architectural scale and grade of the royal temples. When the new temple was completed, the imperial plaque of "Loyal Demon" was engraved and two imperial monuments were erected. He personally entered the temple to burn incense and pay tribute. The rebuilt Guandi Temple is more magnificent and complete. Since then, it has been not only an important temple for court official, leaders of various ethnic group and foreign envoys to burn incense and worship Buddha in Jehol, but also a place for walking. After hundreds of years of vicissitudes, Guandi Temple has become a ruin. Later, in 2002, more than 20 large and small halls were rebuilt and repaired, and more than 40 statues were restored, mainly dedicated to the customs, including Sanqing Hall, the Temple of the God of Wealth, Wang Yaodian and Notre Dame Hall.

The two royal monuments in Guandi Temple are made of Wu Ying rock, with four dragons on their heads, and their heads fall on four corners. The head of the tablet is engraved with "Imperial Pen", the body of the tablet is carved with twelve dragons, and the characters are double-sided. The side is carved with sea cliffs and jade beads for raising dragons. The deity worshipped in Guandi Temple is Guan Yu, and some are called Guan Sheng. This temple is widely distributed. According to incomplete statistics, there were 1 16 in Beijing in Qing Dynasty and 1 1 in Chengde. The Laoye Temple in the West Street Archway, longxing temple in Hongmiao Mountain, Hongji Temple and Houlaoye Temple in Shi Liang Street, Sanyi Temple in Shaanxi Camp, Zhong Yi Temple in Shidongzigou, Fushan Temple in Bell and Drum Tower, Yunfeng Temple in Jiuhua Mountain, Laoye Temple on the top of Pine Tree Beam, Lagou in Hongshi Mountain and Shangerdaohezi are located in Yuncheng, the hometown of Guan Gong, which is not only numerous, but also large in scale. For example, the Guandi Temple in Xiguan, Jiezhou, Yuncheng, has been well preserved so far, covering an area of 30 mu. The center building has seven buildings in the Spring and Autumn Period and five buildings in the depth, reaching more than 30 meters. There is a colorful sitting statue of Guan Yu in the building, which is very vivid. There is a famous couplet in the temple. The first couplet reads "All three religions are converted, loyal and agile, and the heart hangs like the sun", and the second couplet reads "Nine continents enjoy sacrifices, and the gods are like water on the ground". It can be seen from the couplets that Guan Yu, a military commander in the Three Kingdoms period, was deified as the holy king Jiuzhou who converted to the three religions. According to textual research, Guan Yu may be the only military commander in the past dynasties who enjoyed this honor.
