Where is the beginning and end of the Silk Road?
This map shows the trade routes centered on the Silk Road around 1 century. These routes remained basically valid from 500 BC to 500 AD.

The geographical labels of this area were adapted from Ptolemy geography (about AD 150), and some trade center names can be traced back to a later era (about AD 400). It is wrong to rely on Ptolemy's name, but it is neutral.

The following contemporary trade centers (or possible trade centers) are not marked:
