What historical events are reflected in The Morning of the Guard's Execution?
The Morning of Execution describes a true story in Russian history in the 7th century/kloc-0. 1698 Just as Peter the Great was visiting abroad, there was a mutiny of guards in Russia. Peter the Great hurried back to China after learning about it, and then brutally suppressed the mutiny. The background of the photo is outside the walls of Moscow Kremlin and the zenith of Blano Cathedral in western China. Wearing a navy uniform and riding a burly horse, Peter the Great personally supervised the execution of the "Rebel" Guard. Behind him is an orderly firing squad and a row of gallows, and on his right is a group of foreign envoys and his minions. Most of the foreground of the picture is the surging crowd, and some families of guards dressed as farmers are surrounded by six guards who are about to be executed. They are crying sadly. It shows the strong character of the Russian nation who would rather die than surrender. Surikov (1848- 19 16) is good at creating large-scale historical paintings. The Morning of Execution, Mi Jankov in Beliuzov Town and Molotosova, a noblewoman, are called the trilogy of Surikov's historical paintings.
