Shanghai Chen Shan Botanical Garden, located at No.3888, Brilliance Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai, is located in Sheshan National Tourism Resort, and opened to the public on 201year 65438+1October 23rd. Covering an area of 2,076,300 square meters, it is the largest botanical garden in East China. Botanical Garden was established by Shanghai Municipal Government in cooperation with China Academy of Sciences, State Forestry Administration and China Academy of Forestry. It is a comprehensive botanical garden integrating scientific research, popular science and sightseeing.

Chen Shan is one of the Jiu Feng in Song Jun county (known as "Jiu Feng in the clouds" in Shanghai toponymy), which belongs to the Sheshan mountain system and is about 70 meters above sea level. According to the records of Dong Qichang in Ming Dynasty, Chen Shan is "in the southeast of the mountains, second only to Vision Wei", hence its name. In the 20th century, the south slope of the mountain has been cut off due to quarrying. In the design of the botanical garden, this part was transformed into a mine garden.
