Zhu Xu, a native of Pucheng, was born between the middle and late Qianlong period and Jiaqing period. She went down in history by donating money independently to repair the Pucheng wall. In June of the fifth year of Jiaqing (AD 1800), Pucheng suffered a serious flood. County annals recorded that "thousands of people drowned". According to Zu Wang Zhi, minister of the Qing Dynasty, "thousands of people died in this flood". The cause of the tragedy is that the flood destroyed the east, south and west walls of Chengguan.

After the disaster, the government and people failed to repair the city wall. Guan Wang (a scholar in the forty-third year of Qianlong's reign, once served as governor of Shandong, governor of Guangdong, governor of rivers, official to minister of punishments, and minister of official departments) returned to Pucheng. Seeing this situation, he was very anxious and asked the squire to donate money to repair the city wall. Zhu Xu, who had a friendship with his ancestors, gave her husband's remaining legacy to his three sons to buy land, donated more than 50,000 taels of silver, and took on all the costs of repairing the city wall alone. Zhu's third son was in charge separately, and it took three years to complete the project with high quality and high standard. The completed city wall is 2.4 feet high, with a top width of 1.8 feet, stretching for more than ten miles and standing on the Nanpu River.

I hope Xu's righteous act not only won the praise of the local people, but also won the praise of the governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, and even alarmed the court. Emperor Jiaqing once inscribed a royal plaque with "profound understanding of righteousness".

Humans have come from ancient times and have a process of understanding nature. The ancients liked to live by the water, and their houses were built in low-lying places. When houses and population gather to a certain scale and some houses are washed away, the only remedy is to repair the city walls. Pucheng City Wall was built in the 23rd year of Yuanzhizheng (1363) and rebuilt in the 15th year of Jiaqing (18 10). After liberation, with the popularization of astronomical geography knowledge, taking several bridges in the urban area as reference objects, the urban pavement has been greatly improved, the waterproof function of the city wall has gradually lost, and the city wall has also been destroyed. Regrettably, there are only two relics left in the wall of more than ten miles, namely "Deng Yingmen" and "Longtan Gate".
