In the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1368), after the establishment of the Governor-General of Guangdong and Guangxi, Beihai was the state capital of Lianzhou, which was unified with Hepu, Shikang, Lingshan and Lianzhou. During the Qianlong period, Beihai City began to take shape.
