Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties in history, why did people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang do so much business?
1. Location of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Jiangsu: Located on the eastern coast of Chinese mainland, Jiangsu is adjacent to Shandong in the north, the Yellow Sea in the east, Zhejiang and Shanghai in the southeast and Anhui in the west. Jiangsu lies across the river and faces the sea, with many lakes and flat terrain. The terrain consists of plains, waters and low hills. It spans the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. Jiangsu belongs to the East Asian monsoon climate zone, located in the transition zone between subtropical zone and warm temperate zone, and its climate has the characteristics of both north and south.

Generally, the Yangtze River is divided into northern Jiangsu and southern Jiangsu. There are few plains in northern Jiangsu, and the population is much less than that in southern Jiangsu. South Jiangsu is economically developed, close to Shanghai, and Nanjing, the provincial capital, is a megacity in China with a permanent population of about 8.5 million.

Zhejiang: It is located in the southeast coast of China, bordering the East China Sea in the east, Fujian in the south, Anhui and Jiangxi in the west, and Shanghai and Jiangsu in the north. Qiantang River, the largest river in China, is named after its twists and turns.

The terrain of Zhejiang is inclined from southwest to northeast, and the terrain is complex. These mountains form three roughly parallel branches from southwest to northeast. It spans eight river systems: Qiantang River, Oujiang River, Lingjiang River, Tiaoxi River, Yongjiang River, Feiyun River, Aojiang River and Caoejiang River, and consists of plains, hills, basins, mountains and islands. Zhejiang Province is located in the middle of subtropical zone, with a humid monsoon climate and superior natural conditions.

But since ancient times, Zhejiang has a large population and few people. More than half of the province is mountainous and not suitable for farming, so many people go out to do business to make a living. Therefore, Zheshang Guild Hall can be seen in many places in ancient times.

Second, the personality of Jiangsu and Zhejiang people. As we all know, Jiangnan has been an important area of national fiscal revenue since Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the tax revenue in this area once accounted for more than 35% of the national fiscal revenue. This has prompted many local people to stop farming in their own homes because they can't support their families, let alone pay heavy taxes.

Therefore, since ancient times, people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang have a spirit of daring to fight and not admitting defeat. When doing business in other places, everyone has a group culture. For example, Wenzhou Mall, Wenzhou Real Estate Group, Suning Department Store and so on can be seen all over the country now. There are also courier companies that you are usually exposed to now: four links and one arrival, mostly from Tonglu, Zhejiang. When people from Jiangsu and Zhejiang go to other places to do business and develop, they will ask their relatives and friends to come and develop together, and if they have money, they will earn together, thus forming a prosperous situation. This is also an important reason why they are rich and people around them are so rich.

To sum up, this is the main reason why Jiangsu and Zhejiang have high per capita income and can make money in business.
