In the repeated enjoyment and transformation of the natural environment, the famous Jiangnan Water Garden was inadvertently bred. Historically, before the Republic of China, there were no sycamore trees in Nanjing culture, and before there were sycamore trees in Nanjing, the most common ones were willows. As the saying goes, Xuanwu water, Taicheng willow. Then in 1872, a French missionary planted the first French phoenix tree in Nanjing on Shigu Road, creating the history of street trees and large-scale planting of phoenix trees in Nanjing.

In order to build Nanjing Metro Line 3 and Line 10, the Nanjing Municipal Government transplanted many plane trees planted in the middle of last century in the main urban area of Nanjing.
