Although Wumen Weir is far less well-known in Sichuan Province than Dujiangyan, it is still very famous in Hanzhong. Especially in summer, with good safety protection measures, it is really a cool place.
Sitting in a friend's car, everyone talked and laughed all the way, and it took almost half an hour to get to Wumenyan. Before I reached the real scenic spot, I heard the majestic sound of running water and waterfalls, and my heart became excited instantly. Yes, I have heard about Wumeng Weir on the weather forecast program of Chenggu TV since I was a child, and I really came to her side. This is the first time for a girl named Huang Hua to get on a sedan chair!
As soon as we got on the bridge, we looked left, wow-
In the boundless sky, white clouds are overwhelming, under which are verdant green hills, and beside the green trees are the Wumen Weir with endless water waves and spectacular projects!
The water is so wide that you can hardly see the end at a glance. Under the interception of the dam, the river from the upper reaches became extremely broad-minded, running down a gentle slope and roaring down at the lowest point of the slope, forming a waterfall group as long as a train. Although the waterfall group is not big, it is only three meters at most, but the water splashes like white smoke in a rainstorm. I can't think of any other words to describe its beauty except spectacular. Li Bai, a great romantic poet in the Tang Dynasty, wrote a poem: "The Yellow River fell to the East China Sea, and Wan Li wrote it in his heart." This scene, though far less than "how the water of the Yellow River moves out of the sky and into the ocean, never to return", and less than the roaring and stormy waves of Hukou Waterfall, deeply shocked me and is worth remembering for a lifetime.
After the river was intercepted by Wumeng weir dam, it flowed out of the side canal, and the flow rate was obviously much slower. These waters rushed to the front through the canal and irrigated thousands of acres of fertile land on both sides of the strait for thousands of years. I remember an article that recorded such a story: During the Three Kingdoms period, Han Shucheng went north to the Central Plains with Zhuge Liang and passed by Hanzhong. He once said with emotion: "I am a land of abundance in Han Shu, with beautiful weather, rich products and fertile land, and there are two weirs (Dujiangyan and Wumeng Weir)!" Because it is too old, the truth of this story cannot be verified, but the historical position and outstanding role of Wumen weir in agriculture can be seen.
Beside the main project of Wumen weir is a rocky beach. There are countless pebbles, large and small, which look colorful and lovely. If a friend is interested, just pick a few and take them home and put them in the living room as ornaments. Come to think of it, Wumeng Weir has been baptized for nearly two thousand years. These pebbles, perhaps in the beginning, are all car-sized stones. After thousands of years of wind, sun and river erosion, it gradually became such a respectable face today.
Time is really a great thing. Over time, Wumen Weir not only became a world-class water conservancy project heritage in ancient times when technology was so backward, but also promoted the spiritual quality of hardworking, brave and creative people in Chenggu. In my opinion, it is no exaggeration to say that Wumen weir contains the wisdom and spirit of the people of Chenggu.
