The history of the School of Optics and Electronic Information can be traced back to the Department of Radio Electronics founded by Huazhong University of Science and Technology 1960. With the care and promotion of the famous educator Zhu and other leaders of the older generation in China, the college developed the professional direction of laser, optoelectronics and semiconductor earlier in China. After 55 years of development and construction, the College has become one of the largest and most powerful departments of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. From June 2065438 to June 2002, the former Department of Electronic Science and Technology and the former School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering merged to form the School of Optics and Electronic Information, which opened a new chapter in the development of the school.
