1985 February 15, China's first Antarctic research station-Antarctic Great Wall Station was completed. Located on the east bank of Fields Peninsula at the southern tip of George Island, the station is a perennial wintering station. China became the 18 th country to establish a scientific research station in Antarctica.

China's 24th Antarctic scientific expedition started in mid-October, 2004/KLOC-0. The third Antarctic scientific research station in China was established in the A area of Antarctic inland ice dome, and the site selection was investigated. The expedition team members will take the Snow Dragon research boat and plane to the South Pole.

In the 34th Antarctic expedition in China, the expedition team will deploy prefabricated temporary facilities, construction machinery and engineering auxiliary facilities and equipment such as scientific research work cabin, accommodation cabin, living cabin, power generation cabin and spare parts cabin to the island; Complete the installation of temporary facilities; Temporary wharf construction; Level the site of the station area.

"Temporary facilities will provide necessary conditions such as accommodation, living and workplace for station construction in the next 2-3 years. After the completion of the new station, some temporary facilities can be reserved as emergency shelters for the testing station. " Zhang Tijun said.
