Yiwu is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, managed by Jinhua City, which was called "Wu Shang" in ancient times. Jinhua-Yiwu (central Zhejiang) ranks alongside Hangzhou (northern Zhejiang), Ningbo (eastern Zhejiang) and Wenzhou (southern Zhejiang) as four regional central cities in Zhejiang.

As early as the Neolithic Age, there were human activities in Yiwu. After the founding of New China, grindstones and axes were unearthed in Hezuo Township of Liyan Village, Li Zhao Village of Huaxi Township and Xia Yan Township of Fotang Town. 198 1 year, a Western Zhou tomb was unearthed in Nijianshan, Pingzhou Township. Cultural relics include original coladon, pots, beans, bowls, plates, pots, black glazed pots and ceramics, which proves that Yiwu is no longer a wasteland.

According to legend, the fifth generation emperor Xiao Kang gave me a concubine in Huiji, which was called Yue in history. The county is in the territory of Yue State, and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty is Yue State. From 339 BC to 329 BC, the State of Yue was defeated by the State of Chu, the northern part of Zhejiang (Qiantang River) was occupied by the State of Chu, and Jiangnan also belonged to the State of Chu.

In the twenty-fifth year of Qin Dynasty (the first 222 years), Jiangnan, Pingbaiyue and Jianxian were named Heishang and belonged to Huiji County.
