Yanshi County originated in the Western Han Dynasty and belonged to Korea during the Warring States Period. Qin home Gou County, which governs Gou Town in the southeast of yanshi city today, belongs to Sanchuan County. Yanshi County in the Western Han Dynasty (now East Old Town of yanshi city) belongs to Henan County. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wei belonged to Yin in Henan. The Western Jin Dynasty abolished Yanshi County and entered Luoyang County. Because there are many buffaloes in this area, it is named Buffalo Ditch.
