Like Homer's epic. Homer's epics refer to the Iliad and Odyssey, which are the oldest recorded literary works in ancient Greece. They are the precious cultural heritage of the Greeks from barbarism to civilization, marking the outstanding achievements of ancient Greek literature.
/kloc-In the second half of the 9th century, German scholar Sheriman decided to look for evidence of the existence of the Trojan War according to the description of Homer's epic. He went to the coast of Asia Minor to look for the ruins of Troas. Through his own efforts, he excavated the ruins of this ancient city burned by the Greeks in the war, creating a miracle in the history of human archaeology. His archaeological discoveries proved the existence of the legendary Trojan War in history and rewritten the history of ancient Greece that people had previously recognized. Sheriman's success in archaeological excavation convinced him that ancient Greece must have a highly prosperous Mycenae and Crete civilization described by Homer. It is because of his firm belief in Homer's epic that he excavated the Agamemnon Mausoleum and Mycenae Palace in Mycenae civilization and confirmed the description of Homer's epic. There are many hymns in Homer's epic that reflect Mycenae's lifestyle and social system, and they are the only supplementary materials for the remains of Mycenae civilization.
Homer's epic widely and vividly reflects the politics, economy, military, culture, art and other aspects of ancient Greek society, and has become a precious historical material for us to understand ancient Greek society.
