Yubei District of Chongqing is located in the north of Chongqing. It was approved by the State Council in June 1994+1February/7, and was established on the basis of abolishing the original organizational system of Jiangbei County. Yubei District is the administrative district of Chongqing, formerly Jiangbei County, with Longxi Town, a part of the main city, in the south and Sichuan Province in the north. The district government is located in Lianglu Town. Yubei District covers an area of 1.452 square kilometers, including 4 1.300 hectares of cultivated land and 20,000 hectares of green land. The total population is 793,000. Yubei district is located in Huaying, surrounded by two rivers, and is known as the north gate of the mountain city. Yubei district was the mother county of Chongqing in the early days.
