Americans are pragmatic. When groups of British immigrants followed the footsteps of the Mayflower across the ocean to the North American continent, they first faced numerous difficulties and obstacles on the primitive North American continent, and they had to solve problems such as how to obtain living resources and how to deal with the threat of Indians. Immigrant life has made Americans more practical and cultivated pragmatic national spirit.
Americans are independent and free. The United States established its own country through the War of Independence. Washington once said: "The spirit of freedom is surging in our hearts, and we will not succumb to slavery ... We are determined to sever all ties with such an unjust and inhuman country." After the baptism of war and fire, the spirit of independence and freedom is deeply engraved in the souls of Americans and has become their spiritual gene passed down from generation to generation.
Americans are pioneering. The westward movement caused a large number of Americans to sell their property in order to acquire land in the west, shouting the slogan of "get rich or go bankrupt" and rush to the west to open up a new world. This history has not only enabled the rapid development of the western United States, but also injected pioneering spirit into the blood of Americans.
Equality, pragmatism, independence, freedom and pioneering spirit constitute the core of the American spirit and the character of the American nation.
