Textbook Compilation in Vic Zhou
Professor Vic Zhou, as one of the editors-in-chief of the history textbooks for junior and senior high schools in Shanghai Edition, not only completed the task of editor-in-chief, but also wrote the article "Pay attention to the division of textbooks and strengthen the application of knowledge-some experiences in compiling middle school history textbooks (Shanghai Edition)", which was published in History Teaching (No.4, 2003) and shared some experiences and feelings with teachers and students who used the textbooks. From June 5438 to October 2006 10, some Beijing scholars began to criticize the Shanghai version of history textbooks, even at the expense of the Central Committee, thinking that the book "diluted ideology" and "made serious mistakes in political direction, theoretical direction and academic direction". In May, 2007, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission decided that freshmen who entered school in September this year must use a new set of history textbooks. Except Su Zhiliang, none of the members of the original writing group were allowed to enter the new writing group. In this case, Su Zhiliang resigned as the editor-in-chief of high school history textbooks. As one of the editors-in-chief, Professor Vic Zhou, based on the concept of "I love my teacher and love the truth more", calmly responded to the biased criticism of some historians in Beijing on Shanghai history textbooks with indisputable historical facts, rigorous attitude and careful thinking two years after the "textbook incident" subsided. This article was published in Open Times (No.1 2009) with the title "About Shanghai History Textbooks-Responding to the Criticism of Several Historians in Beijing".
