China Institute of History, Academy of Social Sciences
China Academy of Social Sciences is a professional academic institution that mainly studies the history of China before 1840. It was formed by the merger of the former Institute of History of China Academy of Sciences. The first and second research institutes of China Academy of Sciences were established in 1954. The first main research object is China primitive society, slave society and feudal social history before Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, with Guo Moruo as the director and Yin Da as the deputy director. The second research institute mainly studies the feudal social history of China from the Sui and Tang Dynasties to 1840 (twenty years of Qing Daoguang), with Chen Yuan as the director and Hou Wailu, Xiang Da and Xiong as the deputy directors. From 65438 to 0958, it was merged into the Institute of History, with Guo Moruo as the director and Hou Wailu and Xiong as the deputy directors. 1977, China Academy of Social Sciences was established, and the Institute of History became one of the subordinate institutions of the Academy of Social Sciences.
