Content introduction:

In order to meet the needs of teaching, Zhicheng Deng started the General History of China, which was incorporated into the university series by the Commercial Press in 1934 and renamed as "Two Thousand Years' History of China". Twenty years later, the author continued to compile Ming and Qing Dynasties, with 2.7 million words, which is unique among similar historical works.

From the reunification of the Qin Dynasty to the death of the Qing Dynasty in the Revolution of 1911, five volumes and nine volumes were finalized, which is really a magnificent system. This book combines several genres, such as chronicles, chronicles, biographies and chapters. In particular, chronicles are the backbone of the book, which brings together historical facts, systems, academics, literature, customs and religions of various dynasties, supplemented by charts, with simple and complex entries and rich contents.

About the author:

Zhicheng Deng (1887- 1960) was born in Jiangning, Jiangsu. Influenced by his family studies, he was addicted to the book History of Six Dynasties. Graduated from Chengdu International Studies University, majoring in literature and history. After graduation, I worked as an editor in Yunnan Daily. 19 17 was employed by Peking University to compile the history of the Republic of China in the National Historical Compilation Office. 192 1 Professor of Peking University, Beiping Normal University, Beiping Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Fu Jen Catholic University and yenching university History Department, devoted his life to teaching and writing. After 1952, he became a professor in the history department of Peking University, a full-time tutor in the history of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and a distinguished member of the philosophy department of China Academy of Sciences. He trained a large number of scholars in literature, history and archaeology, and his disciples claimed to be 3 thousand. Later, it was called "learning to be an excellent official, which was quite famous in ancient times."

He was rigorous in his studies all his life, well-read, knowledgeable and wrote a lot. In addition to this book, there are other works such as Gu Dongquan Ji, Sangyuan Reading Secretary, Tokyo Dream China Notes, and Chronicle of Qing Poetry. After teaching, he also reviewed and evaluated the printed notes of Mao Ruizheng's Three Great Examinations of Wanli, the 41-volume Ming Zhu of Dong Qichang's Si Liu Yao and the 107-volume Xi Jian Lu by Zhang Xuan.
