1987 In June, at the suggestion of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the International Conference on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held in Vienna, Austria. It was a ministerial-level international drug control conference attended by more than 3,000 representatives from 138 countries, and it was a large-scale international drug control conference in history.

The meeting put forward the slogan of "cherish life and stay away from drugs" to arouse the attention of all countries in the world to the drug problem and call on people all over the world to jointly resist the harm of drugs. The delegates unanimously agreed to designate June 26th as the International Anti-Drug Day. In June 5438+February of the same year, the 42nd General Assembly passed a resolution to officially designate June 26th as the International Anti-Drug Day.
