The origin of books
The earliest books in China appeared in Shang Dynasty.

They are made of bamboo and wood. Bamboo and wood are common and easy to get. Before the invention of papermaking and printing, people cut bamboo and wood into small pieces and wrote on them with a brush, but there was no suitable writing material. Bamboo chips are called "bamboo slips" and wood chips are called "wooden slips". They are collectively called "Jane".

Generally speaking, write only one line. If it's wrong, scratch it with a knife. Therefore, in ancient times, the word "pruning" has been used for a long time. Books are large and small, simple and short in ancient times, the longest is three feet and the shortest is only five inches. Writing a book requires a lot of simplification, and linking these simplifications together makes a book.

Hemp rope is often used in cataloging, and silk rope (called "silk weaving") or pimp (called "Wei weaving") is also used. The ancient books mentioned "Bian Wei's Three Musts", referring to Confucius, a famous thinker, because he often read the Book of Changes and erased the simplified tube three times.

According to the length of a book, it is decided to divide it into several paragraphs, usually two or three paragraphs or more. The word "book" representing the number of books is hieroglyphics, just like a rope connecting a series of simplified books.

Bamboo slips were widely used as books in the Spring and Autumn Period, Warring States Period, Qin and Han Dynasties. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there was also a book written on silk-Silk Book, which was lighter and easier to write than bamboo slips, but it was expensive, so the number of silk books was far less than that of bamboo slips.

Paper books appeared again in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Paper books are light, easy to write and cheap, and are very popular with people. After that, paper books gradually became popular. In the Jin Dynasty, paper books completely replaced bamboo slips and silk books.

Extended data:

The earliest book found so far is a book made of papyrus by ancient Egyptians 5000 years ago. By 1 century, Greece and Rome used animal skins to record national laws, history and other important contents, which was as important an ancient book form as Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty in China. Before the invention of printing, books were copied by hand, and the cost and labor were quite high.

In the Middle Ages, only a few churches, universities, nobles and governments used books. It was not until Gutenberg invented printing in the15th century that books became affordable for ordinary people and were widely spread.

In the 1990s, with the popularity of the Internet, books got rid of the restriction of paper, and e-books became the development trend of books in the future because of their small space, easy dissemination and easy preservation.
