Wuchang city is bordered by Zhangguangcailing in the east, Songnen Plain in the west and north, with high terrain in the southeast, mountainous and forested, and hilly and gully in the middle. The northwest lies in the plain. Dadingzi Mountain is 1696 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in Heilongjiang Province. The Lalin River flows from southeast to northwest, obliquely crossing the territory. There are Longfengshan Reservoir and Mopanshan Reservoir. It belongs to the mid-temperate continental monsoon climate. The annual average temperature is 3℃ ~ 4℃, and the annual average precipitation is 500 ~ 800 mm. Rich in forest resources, the forest coverage rate reached 42%. The main minerals are coal, iron, manganese and zinc. Labin Railway, Forest Railway, National Highway 202, Provincial Highway 203 and Provincial Highway 222 pass through the territory. Scenic spots include Phoenix Mountain National Forest Park, thousands of feet First Waterfall, Longjiang, Alpine Wetland and so on.
The geological structure of wuchang city lies in two geosynclines, namely, the folded mountain belt in Daxing 'anling and the platform between the folded mountain belt in Changbai Mountain and Xiaoxing 'anling. It is adjacent to the west slope of Zhangguangcailing in the second uplift zone of Xinhua Xia in the east and Songnen Plain in the second subsidence zone in the west. The geotectonics are located in two different tectonic zones, namely the transition zone between geosyncline and platform.
