Praising Yue Fei's heroic deeds is widely circulated among the people, and the story about her mother-in-law's tattooing is also very popular. However, the story of mother-in-law tattoo has no basis in history. There is no record in the notes of the Song Dynasty and unofficial history, nor is there any record in Jin Tuo Ge Bian written by Yue Fei's great-grandson York. Mother-in-law tattoos began to appear in the Biography of Song History compiled by Yuan people. As the book says: "At the beginning of life, why did you throw a bow and fly off your petticoat?" Go deep into the skin. " But the book didn't indicate that these four words were written by my mother-in-law. By the middle of Ming Dynasty, Yue Fei's story began to spread widely. Zhong Jing, written during Chenghua's reign, only mentioned the words "saving the country with pure heart" on Yue Fei's back. In the thirty-first year of Jiajing (1552), Xiong Daben's Biography of Wu Mu Zhong Jing recorded that Yue Fei met people in Tang Yin's hometown. However, he paid a craftsman to tattoo the words "faithfully serve the country" on his back. Written by Li Mei at the end of Ming Dynasty and revised by Feng Menglong, the "Biography of Flags" records: "There are four words on the back, which are stabbed by Li Mei and stabbed by Fei. If so, Zhang Xian stabbed Yue Fei after he became a general. "The content is that Yue Fei is not hired by Wang Zuo, the angel of Yang Yao. His mother is afraid that there will be black sheep to seduce Yue Fei in the future. If she is neglected and confused for a while, she will be unfaithful and her reputation will be destroyed. So she prayed to the gods and ancestors and tattooed the word "loyal to the country" on Yue Fei's back. When describing her mother-in-law's tattoo in the book, she first wrote it on Fei's back with a brush. Never fade. It is described in detail. However, some scholars believe that tattoo is a stunt with strict operating procedures and skills, which is beyond the reach of ordinary people. My mother-in-law is a housewife and can't have this ability. Obviously, it was imagined by the author according to the narration of tattooing on Yue Fei's back in some biographies of Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and it was artistically processed and constructed. So, is there a tattoo on Yue Fei's back? What is a tattoo? Whose hand stabbed it? It is still a mystery. Under the influence of Confucianism, "mother-in-law's tattoo" has been endowed with numerous metaphysical cultural connotations, which is also an important reason for its long-term prosperity. Later generations' storytelling turned "loyalty to the monarch" into "loyalty to the monarch".
