In April of the 24th year of Daoguang (1844), a peasant uprising against grain broke out in Leiyang, Hunan. The leaders of the uprising are,, Jiang Wenchang and Duan. Li Jinlan, the county magistrate of Leiyang, and Ye Ruxuan, the county magistrate of Leiyang later, used their personal interests to enrich themselves and levy money and grain at random, thus profiting from them, and the people were miserable. Is a scholar in this county, one of his relatives, Duan, failed to finish the grain as scheduled, and his youngest son was forced to go to prison. Twice "sued Beijing" (complained in Beijing) and was sent back to his hometown. Yang Dapeng's brother was also detained for no reason. So Yang Dapeng contacted more than 1000 farmers in four townships, stopped the farmers, resisted the officers and soldiers, besieged the city and robbed the prison, and launched an uprising. Shi Yusheng, the governor of Hunan Province, led heavy troops to suppress the uprising. The rebels were outnumbered, Yang Dapeng was arrested and killed, and the uprising failed.
