In the TV series The Merchant of Shang Hong, Liu Yunxiang is the soul of the whole TV series, which embodies Shang Hong's way of doing business and feelings of home and country. Liu Yunxiang's prototype is Liu Qishan, a businessman from Hongjiang, the founder of the oil tanker "Qingyuanfeng" from Hongjiang.

Liu Qishan was born in Xin 'gan County, Jiangxi Province. Born in the 27th year of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1847), he died in A.D. 1920. Qing Xianfeng was arrested and enlisted. After leaving Wu, he went to Hong Jiang's relative Gao Canshun's oil apprentice to make a living alone. A few years later, he left the gaos thought and started his own cloth business, which flourished and founded Hongjiang "Qingyuanfeng" oil company.
