History of China's railway development
China Railway started in the declining period of Qing government, which was more than half a century later than the first country in the world to use railway. From 1876 to 19 1 1 year, more than 9 100 kilometers of railways were built in China, which opened the first page of China's railway history.

1.1876 July1day, Wusong Railway (Shanghai to Jiangwan) was put into trial operation.

/kloc-In the 20th century, China became the third Asian country to build railways after Japan and India. From 1875 to 1976, Britain laid the Wusong Railway with a length of 14.5 km in Shanghai, becoming the first railway in China.

2. 188 1 year, the "Tangxu Railway" built by Li Hongzhang was the first freight railway with standard gauge in China.

In the fifth year of Guangxu (1879), the Qing government allowed Kaiping Mining Bureau to build a coal railway from Tangshan to Xugezhuang, and hired C.W.Kinder, a British engineer of the Mining Bureau, to supervise the restoration. It failed because of the opposition of conservative forces. The following year, the Mining Bureau reapplied for construction and was approved. Commencement in may 188 1, completion in June 1 1. It's a monorail light rail, about 7.5 kilometers. At first, the donkey and horse were used to tow the sports car, and in the second year, the motorcycle was used to tow it. In the 11th year of Guangxu (1885), it began to extend from Xugezhuang to Zhuang Yan near Lutaizhuang, and was completed the following year, with a total length of more than 30 kilometers, which was then called Tang Lu Railway. The following year, it was extended to Tianjin, with an increase of more than 80 kilometers, which was called Jingu Railway.

In the 23rd year of Guangxu (1897), the Qing government rebuilt Songhu Railway according to the original route of Wusong Railway with official funds, and it was completed and opened to traffic in the 24th year of Guangxu (1898).

The first train in China was built by the wife of the chief engineer of Tang Xu Railway at that time after imitating the famous British steam locomotive "Rocket" and named it "China Rocket". Because China workers carved a dragon on each side of the locomotive, they called it "Dragon" locomotive.

3. 1909 Jing-Zhang Railway

Jing-Zhang Railway is the first main railway line designed and built by China people themselves. Zhan Tianyou, an outstanding engineer in China, is responsible for the design and construction. 19051010.2190910/0.2 was opened to traffic. The Jing-Zhang Railway "is separated by high mountains and mountains, with the most masonry and more than 7,000 feet of bridges. It is dangerous and difficult, and it is also elsewhere." After the news of China's own Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway came out, foreigners sarcastically said that the China engineer who built this railway probably hasn't been born yet.

4. chengdu-chongqing railway

In the early 1950s, the new China government decided to fill the gap in the western railway and began to build the chengdu-chongqing railway from Chengdu to Chongqing. /kloc-0 started construction in June, 1950, and/kloc-0 was opened to traffic in June, 1952, becoming the first railway built after liberation.

5. baoji-chengdu railway

Baoji-chengdu railway starts from Baoji, Shaanxi Province in the north, reaches Chengdu, Sichuan Province in the south, and is connected with Chengdu, Chongqing and Cheng Kun, with a total length of 669 kilometers. It is the first railway trunk line connecting northwest and southwest. It is also the first railway to break through the "difficulty of Shu Dao". Baoji-chengdu railway started construction in Chengdu in July 1952 and 1, and was completed and opened to traffic in June 1958. In July 1975, the railway electrification project was completed, making it the first electrified railway in China.

6. Daqin Railway

Daqin Railway, built in 1985- 1997, is one of the main railways transporting coal from west to east in China, and it is also the first newly-built double-track electrified heavy-haul coal transportation line in China. The railway runs from Datong City, Shanxi Province to Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, and runs through Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin, with a total length of 653 kilometers and an average time of less than 15 minutes. A coal train roared by, transporting tens of thousands of tons of coal to Qinhuangdao port hundreds of kilometers away and to the south.

7. Qinghai-Tibet Railway

Qinghai-Tibet Railway is a railway from Xining City, Qinghai Province to Lhasa City, Xizang Autonomous Region, with a total length of 1956 km. It is the plateau railway with the highest altitude and the longest route in the world. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway was completed in two phases. The first phase of the project starts from Xining in the east and ends in Golmud in the west. 1958 started construction and was completed and opened to traffic in may 1984. The second phase of the project starts from Golmud in the east and ends in Lhasa in the west. It started on June 29th, 2006 and was opened to traffic on July 60th, 2006. China has overcome the worldwide problem of permafrost in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during its construction.
