Historical evolution of Dinghai District
In the Neolithic Age, human beings thrived here, creating a mysterious and splendid "island Hemudu culture" on the site of the original village of Ma 'ao Town.

In the Spring and Autumn Period, Dinghai belonged to Yue, which was called "Yongdong" (east of Yongjiang River).

In 738 AD (the 26th year of Tang Kaiyuan), "Wengshan County" was established.

In 763 (the first year of Guangde), the county was abandoned.

1073 (the sixth year of Xining in Northern Song Dynasty), which was renamed as "Guo Chang County". At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, the county was promoted to a state.

In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), the state was changed to county; Hongwu abandoned Guo Changjun for twenty years. By the early Qing Dynasty, they had moved to the folk twice.

Dinghai County was founded in 1688 (twenty-seventh year of Qing Emperor Kangxi).

From 65438 to 0953, with the approval of the State Council, Dinghai County was divided into three counties: Dinghai, Putuo and Daishan. In the same year, Zhoushan Commissioner's Office was established, leading Dinghai, Putuo, Daishan and Jiangsu provinces into Shengsi County, Zhejiang Province.

1958, Dinghai, Putuo and Daishan counties were abolished and Zhoushan county was merged.

1March, 967, Zhoushan area was changed to Zhoushan area.

1987 1 month, with the approval of the State Council, Zhoushan area was abolished and Zhoushan city (prefecture-level city) was established. On March 14, Dinghai County was renamed as Dinghai District (county level), which belongs to Zhoushan City.

In September 2004, Lincheng Street was entrusted by the district government to Zhoushan New Town Management Committee for management.

In May 2008, Jintang established Zhoushan Jintang Development and Construction Management Committee, which was authorized by the Municipal People's Government to exercise relevant municipal economic management authority and county-level social administrative management functions within its jurisdiction.
