Xiaoshan District is located in the north of Zhejiang Province, on the south bank of Qiantang River, belonging to Hangzhou, facing Xihu District, Jianggan District and Haining City across the river. The Historical Evolution of Xiaoshan District

1949 On May 5th, Xiaoshan was liberated by China People's Liberation Army, and it is a county directly under the province. At the end of June, 1949 was assigned to Shaoxing area.

Since 1952, it has been a county directly administered by the province.

1957 Shaoxing area was revoked and Xiaoshan county was placed under Ningbo area.
