The origin of surname
Surnames come from three sources:

1, Yixing, Jin Dynasty (now Yixing, Jiangsu Province).

2. Since the Northern Wei Dynasty, there has been a simple change in Qilian surnames. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, there was a Qilian family in the Northern Wei Dynasty. After entering the Central Plains, it changed from Han customs to Qijia.

3, from the emperor gaozu Liu Bang cishi. In the Western Han Dynasty, because General Ji Lin had the merit of killing thieves, Emperor Gaozu named him "Wu".

"Qi" in Oracle Bone Inscriptions, beside the sound of "Qi" in the upper half and "Si" in the lower half, refers to the belt used by the ancients to tie shoelaces, but when it is used in sacrificial ceremonies, it means solemnity. "The Book of Rites" says: "Step on the coffin", which means putting on leg wraps and tying your shoelaces. It also means light blue. In the poem "East Gate Out of Zheng Feng", there is "wearing a towel and clothing, enjoying with a staff", that is, "a woman wearing pale moxa."

In addition, "Xunzi Wang Ba": "The lady's love, eyes want to lick the color, ears want to lick the sound, mouth wants to lick the taste, nose wants to lick the taste, and heart wants to lick the fragrance. These five things are inevitable. " "Qi" here means "extreme". Today, there are still the usage of "elaborate" and "read aloud" when writing letters, but it is not common in modern Chinese.

At present, most surnames are distributed in Shandong. Qi surname originally evolved from Ji surname. According to the Yellow Emperor Century, the Yellow Emperor was born in Shouqiu and grew up in Jishui, so he took Ji as his surname. Di Ku, surnamed Ji Mingjun, is the great-grandson of Xuanyuan Huangdi. According to the national population statistics, there are now more than 50,000 people surnamed Qi in China. Due to historical reasons, there have been several major historical immigrants. The population of Qi is mainly distributed in Liaoning, Shandong, Hunan, Hubei, Shanxi, Heilongjiang and other provinces.
