The historical origin of Yongding River;
Yongding River, called bath water in ancient times, Sanggan River in Sui Dynasty and Lugou in Jin Dynasty, is a river in China. During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Yongding River had other names, such as Hunhe and Xiaohe. Because the channel of Yongding River often changes, it is commonly known as Wuding River, leaving many old roads in history. Among them, there are three large old roads near Beijing.
The first ancient road runs eastward from the entrance of Cliff, turns northeast along the north side of Babaoshan, passes through Haidian, and flows eastward into Wenyu River along Qinghe River. The second ancient road before the Western Han Dynasty flows eastward from Yamenkou, passes through Tiancun and Zizhuyuan, enters the "sea" area of the city near Deshengmen, then turns to the southeast and flows out of the city through Zhengyangmen, Xianyukou, Hongqiao and longtan lake. The third old road starts from Lugou Bridge, passes through Kandan Village and Nanyuan, and finally reaches Ma Ju Bridge.
According to historical records, this old road existed for more than 900 years, which lasted until the thirty-seventh year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1698). At that time, the river course was further dredged, the embankment was reinforced, and the river course originally called Wuding River was officially renamed Yongding River.
