In the 19th year of Eastern Zhou Dynasty/12th year of Emperor Wen of Yan Dynasty (350 BC), the government of Yan set up Laiyuan County in Suning County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, so according to the theory of one county and one city in the history of urban construction in China. This city was built in the middle of 4th century BC, during the Eastern Zhou and Warring States Period in China. Wuyuan City reached the peak of urban construction in Han Dynasty, and gradually abandoned after Sui and Tang Dynasties.
This city has been an important city in the Haihe River basin in central Hebei since its establishment, and occupies an important position in the history of urban construction in central Hebei in North China. The historical relics of Wuyuan City site are rich in research value, and they are the real material evidence of the development of urban civilization in Suning for more than 2,300 years. 1962, the site was listed as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit. On March 5, 20 13, it was approved by the State Council and announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
